I am new to the art of poi and have fallen deeply, madly in love. I have met some wonderful people via various burningman groups and some of them are awesome spinners/fire dancers. The biggest problem I have is that I am looking for a teacher who lives closer to me than LA. I live in Desert Hot Springs which is just north of Palm Springs so if you know of anyone, sure would appreciate some info!

Hi from Germany...which is not close to Palm Springs. But I´m not a good teacher anyway, so...
happy spinning!

'ello! wave welcome! hug i used to live out near you but not anymore frown

I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.

Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.

Welcome to homeofpoi wave

You don't need a teacher.

Loads of people have taught themselves to be great spinners.

[Old link], that's all you need to get you started....

Lucky you living in the desert smile

Thank you for the welcomes! ubblove I did manage to purchase the DVD with my practice poi so I am not without lessons - just so much more fun in person(unless you reeeeally like pusing the pause, reverse, play, pause, reverse, play button on the remote!)
I can do a few moves and am determined to spin with fire before going to buringman in August! So far I can only spin for about 5 minutes without managing to bonk myself in the head ubbloco When I can spin for 15 minutes without hitting myself or getting tangled, I will light up! hug
