Hey all,
I'm new but not new..... i dont get to post much!
as i hadnt got my intro posted from the old board thought i would start a new one!
Thanks to Dentrassi for the lemming i've nicked for my pic!
anyways, i've now been doing poi for 4-5months and made sure it was one of the first things i did in 2004 last night!!!!
hopefully i should be going to either Auckland in NZ or Perth in AUS in july for a year, more likely Auckland i think....
at the moment i'm at my parents in kent, but i'm back off to uni next week,
(very annoying cos i been reading bout lots of peeps meeting in sevenoaks.... and thats really close to me!!!!)
anyway i hope you all are having loads of fun,

I'm sure you will have a fabulous trip once you get going. Change is always a bit scary and unsettling. You'll be fine! If you don't have fun I will personally come down there and bite your ankles!!!

i'm missing HoP loads - feel very out of touch!
so far the weather stopped us from doing Mt Doom but hopefully i'll be trying to go again the end of this week, lots of problems but it all seems to be working itself out....

hi all!really sorry for not running around and leaving you all messages... i dont mean to be cruel its just time is against me (or rather money is).... excuses i know!
well today was one of those days where you are amazed your still alive by the end, but we are, and looking back it was like an epic battle... and possible not over yet!
am in taupo at the mo, in the most lovely internet cafe, were tea and coffee is free after 5pm and cookies are only 20 cents, money from food goes to charity too.... it really is the best place!
anyhow i have to go as i can only afford very very limited internet time!

am back in Taupo again now, in the rain, but we just got back from our 4 day tramp and had brillant weather for that!
it was really amazing
, tried to climb a Mt Doom but its HUGE!!!! very very steep and scary, all scree and snow, got about half way - we were happy with that - also had 16km to walk that day so it was a bit epic really! second day we went up Mt Tongariro, got about 20m off the summit of that one, but didnt have crampons (for snow) and so couldnt do the last bit, third day was easier (kinda like a mountainous desert) and then today was a long walk out again!
it was amazing to be in the wilderness amongst mountains that huge, its a bit of a shock to the system to be back in civilisation and have to think about plans and organisation for the next bit!
although saying that i have a lot of washing to do and a shower will be lovely!!!!
i did quite a lot of poi up in the mountains, although it was a bit too windy really (only had tails with me), there are a few very very bad photos of me, but if i can bear to i will put them up soon!

lots of rocks.... i may have a few little ones in my rucksack
, loads of lava and some very very light pumice stone!loads of cool colours in all the rocks too... very pretty!

thanks to newbies.... sorry if i didnt get round to welcoming youwell i'm still trying to catch up with HoP, have a spare day in Auckland again today,
feeling very lucky as i just got back from Fiji, we spent a few days in the two main cities, Nadi and Suva, and then headed out to an island which was in the middle of nowhere!
was really peaceful and relaxing on the island, no phone, no roads, no computers, nothing.... went snorkling (i havent ever dived yet - it would have been a great place but money is an issue!), spent an afternoon working out how to get into a coconut, so lovely
it was a bit of a rush to get back for our plane, but all went smoothly for once!
and so now i'm back in NZ again, trying to avoid the rush and chaos!
i hope you are all ok

been off doing some more tramping, am now living in my tent in queenstown for a few days before an xmas tramp then i have to start/find a job
i'm travelling on my own now, although meeting others for xmas, its strange, i keep buying chocolate and doing lots of reading...

hey all... hope you are all okay and had a good xmas
well i got back from my xmas tramp ok.... it was lovely to see some of my friends again, and we had a most amazing xmas meal together
the whole trip was wonderful, especially when on xmas day we climbed up a completely snow covered summit, as someone who has never been skiing or snowboarding it was the most snow i have ever seen in my life, and so much fun to skid down in the sun!!! we did some epic walking but all was ok.... justified the amount of rice that i apparently can eat in one go!!! it was sunny for 2 days and rained on the other, after boxing day i went on a 2 day tramp on my own, which was lovely, the steep bit which was described as lots of roots and rocks also had river crossings, tree trunks and mudslides! luckily for me the weather was great - i would have hated it if it had been raining! last day i had to walk through meadows of grass up to my knees so was in a bit of a state hayfever wize!
since then i have been back in queenstown, the weather is really bad, they shut the airport today, worst summer on record! its been raining so much, i was half considering buying a new waterproof as mine apparently has died!
the weather hasnt bothered me much tho cos i have spent most of the last 2 days in bed..... not been great but hey i think i'm over it now..... there were warnings of a virus which spread from one of the huts i stayed in, i took and
used lots of antibacterial soap and stuff, the whole place had been cleaned and they stopped the warnings cos it was so long ago.... but it seems that my joking about it before i left was my downfall.... i dont know if that was what i got but i was quite badly ill on wednesday... i am slowly getting my strength back again, have been eating beans on toast today, its not an experience i wish to ever repeat!
spending new years in queenstown - there should be music and fireworks here, then on the 2nd if i am feeling
better (i should be i hope) i am heading to a farm to hopefully start work.... the weather is a bit of a worry if the crop is ruined, fingers crossed!
