i'm trying to get into changing this intro from time to time - at the very least to keep the music and films bit 'up to date'.

smile

name: cole[man]

sex: male

age: 27

location: i live in a veritable castle in leytonstone in east london with my beautiful girlfriend ubblove

i used to go to lots of workshops but i have to admit, its a fairly rare occurance these days.

your favourite website/s: this one is okay wink jugglingdb.com, contactjuggling.org, okayplayer.com, spherculism.com, playfestival.co.uk, magicbunny.co.uk, gettyimages.co.uk, toolband.com, airside.co.uk...

toys: i play poi and juggle balls. every now and again (like most people i think) i pick up other toys but am worse at all of these than i am at the keeping balls in the air thing - 97531, drop, drop, drop, drop, drop.

been twirling: since may 2002.

i could do the basic stuff (just a fwd and rev 3bt weave and a fwd butterfly) back in nov 2001 but then went and did a snowboard season in the alps and forgot everything.

when i came back, i discovered one of my best friends had learnt loads!

so summer 2002, i was in the lucky position of being around wikid poi people every weekend and having a friend acting almost as a personal tutor during the week.

big love and respect to jonny moohaahaa and fairie cath for all your patience, effort, guidance and days and days of playtime! hug

i began learning to juggle in august or september of 2002.

recent manipulation trends: been playing with one and two 4" stage balls quite a bit whilst wiggling bits of my body, learning to juggle 5 balls all over again, 3 ball body throws, getting confused about antispin, balancing things on my head and spinning a ball on my finger.

occupation: db admin and layout & design (similar to a porn star, just in an office). i work for a small, law firm in their information and research department. i also handle all of the firm's dtp, digital publishing and commercial print. aerotech toys aren't cheap and since my body won't ever make me rich, i have resorted to something a little more conventional smile

hobbies: bammy ubblove , this stuff, music, collecting things (i'm very bad for this) and boarding (although my skating is now non-existent due to me being crap and it hurting too much so just snow when i can afford it).

music: i like pretty much all of it. current playlist includes TOOL, RADIOHEAD, THE ROOTS, D'ANGELO and JEFF BUCKLEY, (and the rest) wayne shorter, a perfect circle, billie holiday, jill scott, joni mitchell, saul williams, john coltrane, soad, dj shadow, roy hargrove, 4-tet, edith piaf, cat empire, faith no more...

movies: recently seen... old boy eek team america, the last samurai, the ladykillers, the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, shaolin kung fu master, jackie brown, shrek 2, shogun assassin, midnight express, lotr, seven samurai & magnificent seven double bill, kill bill 1 & 2, confessions of a dangerous mind, eraserhead, princess mononoke, a beautiful mind, pay it forward, adaptation, waking life.

favourites... shogun assassin, requium for a dream, anything by lynch, kevin smith or the coen brothers or anything written by charlie kaufmann.

books: recent... hiding the elephant, illuminatus trilogy, philosophical investigations, a book on nlp, shogun, oracle night, peter cook '...only twin', the curious incident of the dog in the night time, lord of the rings trilogy (first time ever - it didn't disappoint!), the complete winnie-the-pooh collection, of mice and men, vurt (again), chocky, brave new world, dune, falling out of cars, alice's adventures in wonderland.

favourite authors... jeff noon, iain banks, robert anton wilson and comic/graphic novel writers that only fanboys like me have ever heard of (brian michael bendis, j. m. staczynski, kevin smith, alan moore, greg rucker, brian azzarello).

tv: was invented solely to distribute the league and the boosh to the masses.

favourite colour(s): both of them - black and white smile

favourite number: three - its magic don't ya know?

i never had a favourite number until last year so i thought i may as well put it up here with the rest of the useless information.

cole

and a quick note about that orange 'grumpy' face on the top of all my posts - i'm not mean or unhappy, nor does it suggest that i'm angry in every post i make.

i just think its cooler than the regular pin-in-a-post-it message icon. and it makes it easy to spot my own posts cos it rarely gets used by anyone else. and its orange and black.

the end of the beginning:

freshly edited intro to bring it up to date and all that - it actually includes stuff that tells you something about me now rather than the regular base info.

its really just an excuse to post about my new big wick fire poi that were delivered to my house while i was @ spitz last night.

THEY KICK ASS!!

so it *cannot* rain tonight - they've been in soak over night and all day today and *must* be burnt this evening (cos i can't wait any longer!).

i think moohaha may have the HOP relay fire poi too - all of which means big, big flames in me garden!!!

i've seen you about before (@ the last poi in the park on clapham common with 'eric' and a sh*tload of bubblewrap round your noggin!?) but never bothered to say hello - either i'm shy or just plain rude

i'm sure we'll catch each other around again - i'll be @ spitz every other week cos i'm alternating with a juggling workshop local to me so i'll see you there if not before.

you're right, orange *did* have them - but not any more my friend!

i saw orange on saturday @ the juggling convention and he brought the hop fire poi along (he never had the staff).
he left them behind when he went and moohaha was the first to spot them so he had 'em away!

we didn't get to burn them tonight cos of the crappy weather but i did get a quick burn of my new ones

roll on summer (with a shitload less rain)...

cos i'm shy

i'm at spitz pretty much every other week so i'll probably see ya there - i'll bring 'a pink thing' and stand around with it until someone goes mad (that should be you ).
either that or i'll get smallboy to point you out (he seems to know everyone) and i'll come say hello.

i didn't make many pitp's (i went to two and then the last one) and was @ the juggling convention on saturday instead of reclaim the beach so that's why we never met there i guess.

look forward to seein ya soon.

i'll join ya - sitting about drinking tea and smoking is about all i'm good for this morning.
shame i'm at work

we got the hop relay fire poi and had a wikid burn last night! they're massive and i only got my new ones the other day so it was a double treat.
i tried (crap) hyperloops with fire for the first time and moohaha nailed the seven beat also for the first time with fire (both of us requiring a little cajoling by the other of course).

and as a side note my friend who has been learning poi all of four days came down to have his first burn of the fire poi i got for him. in about 4 hours he learnt to turn round both ways with the weave and almost had reverse weave btb before he left!??!! all of this he learnt with fire which he'd never even tried before! some people make ya sick - thank god he's off travelling and i don't have to see how fast he learns everything else

thank-you

i thought i'd post my bad news here seeing as the only people that read my intro are the peeps who know me and this isn't something everyone will want to just stumble across:

i had the crappiest night ever on monday night.
about 7:00 in the evening i was driving to pick up a friend from the station (moohaha in fact) but never got there.
about half-way there a 14 year old girl ran out into the road about 5 metres in front of my car.
i had absolutely no chance of stopping in time.
i was travelling at about 35mph when i hit her.
she bounced up onto my bonnet, her head smashed the windscreen and she ended up on the other side of the road, face down.

she is okay and luckily only has minor injuries - just some bad cuts and bruises.
i'm not in trouble as it was not my fault at all (i have three good witnesses that saw the whole thing, including her friend that was standing next to her) but this doesn't really help.

i'm kind of okay about it but i haven't really slept since.
it's weird - i know i did nothing wrong (i was within the speed limit and had not even had a smoke or a beer that day) but i still can't help thinking how bad that accident could have been if it was even slightly different - that girl could be dead right now.
even though i know it was her bad decision i don't know how to stop thinking about it

anyway, enough doom and gloom.
hope spitz last night was rockin as normal and everyone else is doin well.

hugs Coleman and kisses his worries away....

I know how you feel, dude and can only feel sorry because you need to sort this guilt and fear feeling within you....

However, maybe you should talk to her if you can, that might help.

Also you need to analyse what happened BUT NOt focus on what COULD have happened, that is ENDLESS

A while ago I had a nasty accident and now i can sometimes be sitting in a car with a friend driving (i personnaly do not drive anymore) and IMAGINE possible accidents around me ... that is because I did not take the time to talk about it then and process it and get over it ...

So talk about it and congratulations for writing it down and sharing, beautiful soul.

Congratulations also for caring ... that proves you are a sensitive driver...

draw all possible lessons from that sad event, celebrate the fact that no major injusries occured and MOVE ON, please... be good to yourself...

fluffy naplam fairy - cheers for dropping in and saying hi however, i have obviously completely fooled you - i am a complete bastard as anyone who has ever met me will testify to
that fraggle bloke seems to be onto a winner as you seem no less than lovely yourself. hopefully meet ya one day so we can swap waist wraps (those back ones are *really* starting to get me now!).

cass my angel that all makes sense.
thank-you

i don't think i want to see the girl again - just knowing that she is recovering and will be fine has really begun to set my mind to rest. i think seeing her would just upset me again.

not thinking about the possibilities is exactly what i need to do - i guess if i thought about all possibilities every time i was on the road i'd never have time to think about anything else.
thinking about what actually happened will, i hope, mean that i am a slightly more cautious driver - thank god on that occasion i was not speeding (which i am ashamed to say i used to do) and from now on will be unlikely to ever again in a town.

thank-you again for taking the time to post - now go sunbathe!

Hope your mind's healing - stuff like that is hard.

Next time I'm in London I will, as usual, be with my Fraggle (and yes - he seems to think he's pretty lucky - not sure where he got that one from though...eep!) and wel will, as usual, be looking for a sofa to crash on.

So I'm sure we'll be able to find a park someplace to meet and exchange waistwraps yippee!!

I've just gotta go ask SmallBoy if you really are such a nasty bloke
