ok I could REALLY Rant about this but I'll keep it short;-If you cut spending on health, the health system will not function properly. To blame the public health system for its problems is a little short sighted. -If you cut education, you get more full fee paying students taking up places based on the ability to pay, rather than merit.-If you introduce a whacked tax, small business will suffer = less jobs.Who is better off with Howard's government in charge? Only ppl who are adept at avoiding paying tax on their incomes. The people at the very top of the economic food chain.The majority of Australians have _again_ elected a Government which will not benefit the majority of Australians (and for a 3rd term of incompetence no less).Good onya Australia.Josh

Agreed Josh - I have private health cover, cos we can afford it - Kinda feels bad, but I know that it also means I won't clog up the public system.I like those bumper stickers that came out last time "Don't blame me - I voted Labour", Only it should be "...I voted Democrat"

The big buisness candidate keeps getting elected world wide, while the one who stands for the common man gets trashed..you know why people.. big business has money. the entire system is corrupt people.when are we going to take it back?------------------~whoosh whoosh whoosh~

Question to all of you : if I disagree and wish to vote "blank" (or whatever it is called) will it at least show in the vote results, or not ? (I mean if there is more than just me of course !!!).2nd question : In spite of your great explanations, NYC, I have a feeling that democrats and republicans are not *that* different from eachotehr in the USA (their ideas I mean). I get that feeling in france too when I watch the socialist and the republican parties basically "steal" eachother's ideas and sometimes Chirac has more left-winger idea than the socialists themselves (I said SOMETIMES...). How is it in Australia ?Is it generalized for western "democracies" to tend to become politically uniformized (????comprendo me english ?) psst..Cassandra, the big parties policies seem the same, because they ARE the same.the corporations and lobby groups own the govt, they are the ones who are really running things.tobbaco companies, and pharmaceutical companies(drug dealers) mostly, give MILLIONS in campaign contributions to govt officials on both sides, that way they know the laws will continue to fall in their favor either way.democracy is a good system. until the only 2 parties that have a chance of winning are bought and paid for by drug dealers.I ask you people again. How long are we going to keep enduring this? when should we stand up and fight this bullshit? I'm ready right now.------------------~whoosh whoosh whoosh~

Sarcastic? Hrmm... no. But I was just joking. I was enjoying just hearing the unbias expanations of how govts work in other countries.. Then it got into sticky politics. AKKKK The bell again, got to run. Dang school/work.
