----------- Spinning@... Update -----------

Dear all

we have moved to a new location.... se here for the new treead

[Old link]

see you at the rag factory..

this is why we have moved...

We had discussions in the pub on Tuesday regarding the use of the market for spinning@spitz and thanks to friends we have a much clearer idea of what’s going on:

Unfortunately we are not allowed back into the market for our workshops. It seems that while we have been out the market for the work, there has been a change of management. The new management appears to want to “increase the value” of the market area (gentrification is the term being used). This has led to many of the existing tenants not being invited to re enter the market, our selves included.

The st’georges residents association would have had no idea we would not be allowed back in, so although annoying its not their fault. We still have contacts in the market and we don’t want to cut out any future possibility of re-entering the market at a later date by kicking up a fuss, especially when there is no chance at all of us using the space in the current climate.

We need to do 2 things… 1. Find a temporary place to play ASAP… (see top) and 2. Find a permanent new home… to help us move forward we need your help. Please think of the people around you, be it your parents, friends, colleagues etc and see if there is anyone who may be able to finds us a new home… put the feelers out there.

If you find somewhere that fits our criteria (see below) then please get a contact name, a number or email and if appropriate, have a brief chat with them as a recommendation or personal contact makes a huge difference. If they are interested, forward their details to me and I will then chase it up.

We require an indoor or covered outdoor area with adequate lighting able to house up to 100 people on a Tuesday evening within 10mins from a tube and centrally located. We also require power to run a portable stereo.

On another note we have decided to have a Xmas party to raise some funds to help us secure a new spinning@..... ‘s venue. The confirmed date is Thursday 20th December in a Brixton from about 7.30 pm to 1 am. More details to follow.

Hopefully we will get sorted very soon and in the meantime we will meet at the poet next week and maybe look at ice skating, bowling or something else there after.

Huge hugs

Kev and the guys at spinning@.... ‘s

Hey all - have only recently heard about the workshops after stopping by at Oddballs in Camden to look at fire poi and get some ideas on a good beginner set to light up with.

Do they run every Tuesday or only some? i guess just turning up is ok?

The fantastic Luke Toms from Cornwall will be supporting Julie Feeney in The Spitz Venue tomorrow night.

An unbelievably talented musician, i would definately recommend popping in to stimulate your ears at some point.

I'll be at Spitz some time soon (not tonight tho - bit of a family crisis going on), maybe next week, cos I keep thinking about how much I want to pick up my poi again but then I think about how much the weather sucks most of the time. I haven't done any poi for nearly a year redface

Hope I haven't forgotten everything, I'll be gutted if I have to start from scratch! Oh well, it's not like I've ever made massive progress... I was just really happy when I learnt to do fountains! Simple things please simple minds...

Anyone find a coat last night. with some stuff in the pockets.
A friend lost one,
Stuff in the pockets should identify the owner, and he'd quite like it back.

Will be in Oxford the week of the 21st and thinking about spending one of my evenings away from the wife (V and I got married!) and twirling things in circles. Looking forward to seeing everyone! Reminds me I need to arrange for Mic to swing by SF's SpinJam this Thurs!

I don't suppose anyone found a car key on any of the tables last night did they? It was in my jacket which got moved about a fair bit and it's fallen out somewhere, hoping it was at Spitz and somone's picked it up frown

hi poisterrrrrrssssss!!!

I'm Mireia, from Barcelona, an absolute beginner.... my spinning is as bad as my English, but I carry on.... ubbloco I saw you last Tuesday at Spitafields just by chance, I didn't know.... but anyway it was too late, I was in a hurry and a bit drunk (too cold weather for me wink ) but I stayed few minuts watching you.... cool!!!

I live in Barcelona, and we use to play in the Ciutadella park on weekends, and in L'Opera (a squatter house in Hospitalet) on Wednesdays evening.... so, if you ever drop in BCN, feel free to contact us.... don't try to learn any trick from us, I told you, we're beginners, but you will have a nice time for sure!!!

Spinning kisses,
mirentje
