Already searched the forum but didnt find anything appropriate

Do you have any hints for doing a one handed butterfly to the side - mine always hit each other after maximum 6 circles. I even can swing them one "extra circle" to the right and back - but after this move - its out...

I saw people doing it on videos for many times (eg At the end of the Ben Frasier Video on HOP)

HOW CAN I KEEP THEM STABLE ????

thx in advance

try reading the lessons section of this site. You have to keep your hands in the shake hands position, but to the side.

when both poi are in the same hand, make sure you have one poi slightly infront of the other, this should stop them hitting each other.

i tend to hold one in between my thumb and finger and then place the other one between little finger and the one next to it, as i hold out my hand in a clenched fist, thumb flat and pointing away, you wil notice that that poi will be infront of the other, you make a circular motion from your wrist with the motions of the poi. you can then do as you wish, like one handed behind the head butterfy, or turn to reverse butterfly by moving to either side of your body.
if JEZ ever reads this section, he could probably post more as he seems to master any thing one handed.

hope that helps

The best tip is to learn with long socks with a decent weight in the end. MOST IMPORTANTLY PRACTISE LOADS!!!

Also for your pleasure I will add this: I presume by the side you are refering to a split time butterfly move, which as you correctly assume allows for movement behind the back. However I suggest you try quarter time as this allows you to move side to side and up and down at the same time!!

Have fun

Oh, sorry. Yeah, split time ... Have you got the regular one hand bfly down, With one poi in your thumb+index and the other in your little+ring finger. Are you doing the shake hands movement? Make a faster movement from left to right with your thumb and index while still keeping the other poi at the same speed by moving your hand straight up and down. Then it will give the impression of side to side movement, or split time as its called. If that doesn't clear it up, I'll try again tomorrow
