I danced with my snake in a show on Sat night (last week) and ran into a bunch of people with (what to them is) an irrational fear of snakes.

For performance stuff in the past I have had to figure out what my irrational fears are, and defeat some of them.
I was terrified of microphones, for example. I treated them as if they would bite me.

What are your irrational fears?

You know that helium is a nobel gas right? And is therefore unreactive. Now if party balloons were filled with hydrogen then I'd be with you on this one.

Personally the only thing that I fear are Morris Dancers - there's something very unsettling about them.

I'm scared of things flapping around me like pigeons or moths. Totally stupid fear but I don't seam to be able to get over it no matter how hard I try. I am better than I was though. I don't run away screaming and crying any more.

I'm also claustraphobic. I got trapped in a toy draw when I was little, hiding from one of my brothers. It scared the bajeebus out of me and whenever I get trapped in small spaces that panic re-visits me and makes me go a bit freaky.

But is a fear of snakes really irrational? i mean they can bite you or strangle you to death and i'm sure fearing a painful death is rational...isn't it??

Clowns or anyone with facepaints or a mask on. I just can't look at them and i hate it when they try to talk to me!! Oh and those people in big giant fluffy costumes with the giant heads!....just thinking about them freaks me out

I don't understand why everyone hates on clowns...it just doesn't make sense to me. Maybe that's because I've been a clown, but that's not the point!

well my roomate's ex was terrified of clowns... it was a combination of because of the clown doll in Poltergeist... And because as a child, there was someone who was kidnapping kids in her neighborhood, who was dressed as a clown. I've had other friends who were afraid of them because of the movie "it".

Me, I have an issue with ventriloquist dummies. I don't run in terror when I see one or anything, but I definately wouldn't want to be alone in a darkened room with one of them... I suppose it's just because of movies like Child's play, or all kinds of different episodes of tales from the crypt or the outer limits, where the dummy was possessed eek, or really a mask covering an evil siamese twin eek, stuff like that...

As far as snakes go, never was afraid of those, I have one as a pet, and she's my little angel. But I love bringing her out and watching big burly guys quake in fear that this tiny little cornsnake is going to gobble them up nana

What exactly do I have to light on fire to get you to notice me?

I freak out about moths...especially when you spray them and they go crazy and fly towards you like kamakazee maniacs!

And frogs....I can't go near frogs...like my fear of balloons I can't trust them....I don't know when they're going to suddenly jump and then I'll jump and squeal and run away! Lol
