Do you really believe that airlines are overly concerned with your safety or comfort even? I do not disagree that there are limitations to a seat vs a persons size. Like I said before, what about a body builder? A body builder will over flow a seat and make those around him squished but the seat restraint will fit around their waist. A 6'5" body builder can weigh twice as much as an average person.

I believe the weight balance is more about fuel economy.

But what you have over looked is my first question. Does someone that takes up less room get a discount?

The first reaction I have to the pic FT posted is sympathetic and one of pity for this lady. Is it helpful? Maybe not, is it more helpful than just thinking, OMG, that's ridiculous? I believe so.

FT: Do you confront obese people in this manner when you see them?

As for Anorexia being a self image problem... it's not limited to just self image but on the opposite end of the spectrum over eating can be the result of a self image problem leading to emotional eating, all the same. Obesity isn't only caused by poor balance in diet. Eat 10 apples a day and see if it keeps the doctor away wink

but the point is, anorexia is generally caused(not the only cause) by emotional expression. Obseity is generally caused (not the only cause) by lifestyle.

they have pressure to conform to expectations and standards. Where do Obese people get that? except here.

seriously, how many times do I need to say "generally" "in most cases" "not the only cause" before people stop posting specific examples to try to disprove the realities. It like using a blind man's lack of vision to prove that colours don't exist.

I dont care if an abult is fat, whatever floats (or sinks) their boat. my point is that parants who allow their children to get obese should get a chuck norris roundhouse kick to the face.

EoN, I think it's meant to be the human eating the animals, at least that is what the Simpsons implied. What I am wondering is, where are the Morlocks?

WA, That's the most sublime thing to be posted here.

Do I have to explain to you that I used this sentence as an example re. Ravers vs. Hippies? It has been taken out of context and I did that to display my opinion: "Try understanding first, before attempting to judge."

this image sounds a different string altogether (in me)

I'm sorry to find this topic in Chat - but maybe this is the best thing however. I feel that obesity is strong disharmony with ones own body - due to psychological factors (sorry for being "pseudo")... Once on this path it is extremely difficult to change - and I have greatest respect for those who manage.

To come back to the essence of my quote: there are people facing harsh criticism for their lifestyles and it's far better to take each others hands and talk things over (even if it won't change anything) than indulging in labeling, stereotyping and judging.

I believe that everybody is doing the best they (think they) can in that very moment. Fat, slim, politicians, crooks, porn actors, preachermen etc etc - I should find compassion and love for them but I don't have to agree with all of it. This is what each parent should do with their kids and each lover should feel for their partner.

I agree with you that some body builders take up as much space:

You tell me which crew dares to face and tell them they need to book two seats instead of one... wink always more easy to pick on those who are weak (obese) and peaceful (hippies)...

holy cow FT, those pics are wrong! How does that body builder wipe his own arse?

IT is also important to remember we are talking obese here, not overweight or fat, but obese.

Fitness and health are all relative, I meanwhat a pro cycler would mean when he says fit and what a single mum would call fit are two seperate things.

THere is something wrong, however, with needing someones help to wash the mould out of a belly-fold because you cant reach.

FT, are you trying to say I'm being hypocritical?(rhetorical)

FT, I have done exactly what I set out to do. Bring balance to the argument.

You should consider this the next time you attack someone's culture. Beating the hippie horse = no different than beating the American horse. Expressing disgust over someone's size from behind the keyboard as opposed to publicly... Do I really have to spell that out to you? Or do I run and cry to the mods that you're using foul words towards me? Talk about maturity!

Hippie vs Raver was some of that banter that Seye was talking about. Slim vs Obese was a mockery of Hippie vs Raver. Are you going to loose some of that meaning in translation? Or do you require more clarification?

JUST A JOKE! Please just let this thread die out and save it for another time. We really don't need another 'line' in another thread!

I find you no better or worse than any other person FT. I do think that you need some of that introspective that you so often ask others to try out. Time to be big boys and walk away from this nonsense.

say "what?"

WA - how you distinguish between "extremely fat" and "obese"? Isn't that exactly the point? Are we running instant background checks on every person we see and note something extraordinary (like clothing, physical appearance and so on)?

all - you see someone in colored clothes, long hairs (some flowers) = HIPPIE! And this someone just happens to come from a party (24 hrs, no toilet no shower) = DOUBLE HIPPIE!! Same guy happens to be an undercover agent for the DEA and busts your a** for that roach in your pocket redface not mine - I quit that already wink

now "say what one more time!" wink I double dare you tongue2

Oh - PG advised [explicit lyrics]

RC - I won't even read past the first two lines of your post if it treads the same boring mill over and over again - and I'm almost certain nobody else will.

^^ Well, join in or leave. Or maybe just keep posting in the inane, insufferable and irrelevant threads like "last one who posts wins" or the "shout it from the rooftops"

Because they are SO much better. IF you dont like verbal sparring then probably best you keep to one liners about popcorn then.

Another solution is to hit the ignore button, that way you dont have to listen to me. Its easy, see, I just did it on you.

That would be 2010 TED Prize Winner, Jamie Oliver. That's a pretty big accolade (especially considering there were 3 recipients of the award per year in previous years), and thankfully a very worthy recipient, with a very worthy message.

You aren't thinking or really existing unless you're willing to risk even your own sanity in the judgment of your existence.
