So it seems there might be a few spinners heading to asia this winter with spinning on their minds. I just wanted to see who else is heading over, what their plans are while they're over there.

My tickets are booked! I'm arriving in bangkok 16th november, and returning to ireland 3rd February

I've heard from a lot of spinners of a park in bangkok where people meet up every day to play. Thanks to Banshee Cat for the following info:

 Written by:

It is the Pra Atit boat stop, and the park is called Pra Sumen. I would reccommend staying closish by at the guesthouses on Sri Ayyutaya rd-- Tavees Guesthouse, or Sri Ayyutaya's, or Shantis, all very close together down that road. Nice community... May Kai Dees is a great restaurant for veggie food along near that strip-two locations, one on samsen, and one off the end of Kho San rd and across the st.... Probably more specific address in the guide books...

Nick (poi celebrity number 1 wink) is planning on a poi camp in Pai, northern Thailand, where spinipulation enthusiasts can meet up and play, practice, etc (see his post below). I definately plan on spending some time up there with him during my adventure. Probably stop number one after bangkok... ubbrollsmile

Leave your winter behind, come find some winter summer!

COME SEE HOW FAR THE RABBIT HOLE GOES!

Have a great time in Vang Vieng for New Year Ronan! What a splendid place for it... and strangely enough, tis where I met Andy for the first time (the bungalows across the river) smile

Enjoy floating down the river biggrin

I'm heading for Big Blue on the 5th/6th. Don't know what I'm going to find when I get there, but I want to go have a look anyways.

Maddi, the area you are refering to is very near, walking distance from where we are meeting at Big Blue. certainly there are places to tent et al if you ask the right people. The restaurant however, is unstable and quite dangerous to climb around in etc. Not safe for shelter, unless someone has fixed it. I know a fe people who got quite hurt trying that out. But yeah, that area is the whole bay from haad Yaun over through Haad Tien and Haad wai nam, and even the bay after that, you can boat to and crash there, so far it is pretty undeveloped.

Cant wait to see you!

hey crew - we have been here in Pan ghan (sp?) for about a week - its very very crowded, almost no availablility (I heard a guy make 40 calls - getting nowhere) - I went on a boat trip and saw the beach that Maikuki speaks of - and I think there is a possiblity there - however there will be no food or water - you will have to do a boat trip every few days for supplies - still would be cool. Its the only beach with no people on it.

Haad Rin... dont know why anyone in their right mind would knowingly come here. loads of pretty people - but only a few beautiful ones. fire spinning...is very fast...and crowd pleasing (just do a fast figure eight!)

NYE here was crazy (literally).

still maanged to get in 2 psytrance parties which is a good thing smile

Anyhow.

moving onto ao Ton sai tomorrow. hopefully its chilled there - and we can get accommodation (fingers crossed).

Josh

I hear the weather is good on Koh Phangan now.

As for bunglows... I guess we can just hope that everybody will be leaving now that NY and the Full moon are (almost) over.

Tomorrow I catch a 9 hour minivan to Penang. Yuck.

The trance festival was fun! smile

See some/most of you somewhere soon.

Oh, and FYI you can camp on Tonsai beach, although I'm still sure that bugalows and food are more expensive there than on Koh Phangan.

Hey all...

Am in heathrow... on my way...

Take care those heading through Bangkok... nine bombs exploded in the city yesterday, in connection with the coup a few months ago.

British Foreign Office are advising tourists not to travel about there, if at all possible.

I'm sure it'll be grand... just stay aware smile

And I reckon crowds will have cleared in a few days too... certainly by the 5/6th...

Time for a most splendid adventure biggrin

PS: And something interesting I learned last night... it's not a good idea to run about packing and being manic all day, then drinking and partying all night, and expecting to be fine for a 6.30am flight. Meurgh... nearly missed it eek

OK, troops, I need some input:

I've been wanting to make sure things work out well for Drew's trip to Thailand. He's only here for a little over a week, flying in on the 7th. I was hoping that everybody could be in the same part of Thailand for this, but we have a bit of a Tonsai/Koh Phangan split going on. This might just be the way things will be... but I'm just trying to feel confident that I'm telling Drew the right airport to fly to smile

So, Josh and Kate are you sure about Tonsai? Anybody else want to go to Tonsai. Overall there is more momentum for Koh Phangan right now. Yes? Is that right? Any more thoughts from anybody about where they want to go? Particularly from people who want to see Drew??

The trance festival was great, by the way. Gosh I like dancing.

Drew, hope you're still coming to visit!!

Josh and Kate... would you consider heading to Had Yuan (which is a million miles away from Had Rin, in everything but distance)... it would be nice to keep everyone together, if possible?

In Sri Lanka now... I think I'm over the hangover smile

Flew over Munich and then Iraq on the way over...

So, I can get a house, two floors, two double beds- but lots of room for others on floors and couches, hot shower/bath, lovely view, dvd room, tea and coffee facilities, but no proper kitchen. All the ones with kitchens are booked.

We have it available from the 11th to the 15th, five nights in total.

Shall I book it?
Those that want in, email or pm me quickly... super fast!!!

If people want it longer than that let me know too, I am not sure if it is available, but one of the other spaces may be.

If you want to see the house google The sanctuary resort on Ko PG, and look up the Tamarind house. It is one of the newer ones.
First come first serve...
smiles,
Andrea

Don Det is stunning... the waterfalls are awesome, but dangerous... and make sure you visit the river dolphins smile I'm amazed they have internet there now!

Siem Reap is stop off to Angkor Wat, which is breathtaking and definitely worth a visit. But while in Siem Reap, visit the landmine museum... you'll find someone who can direct you to it. The lads there are lovely and always appreciate a visitor.

But... hope you can make it back to Ko PG before we leave!

Olive... glad you're having such a great time smile

Thanks for all the effort Andrea... twas very good of you. I muchly prefer Hat Yuan to Tien, but if you guys are all going to be together somewhere, I'll probably join you.

Have arrived in Bangkok and checked into the Wild Orchid (expensive, but worth it after a very long trip smile ).

Went for a spin in the park tonight and met Joe and Saree... They pass on their hellos to all who know them... and I've invited them down to ko PG too.

I'm now thinking about leaving on the 4th/5th to head south.. Don't mind arriving early...

See you all soon

Clare, I find I wander between all the beaches each day, eat at one, swim at another, visit... so i am sure we will spend plenty of time at Haad Yaun too. haad Why Nam is actually my favorite of the bunch. But you guys can probably situate yourselves there before I get in regardless. But this house was the only one I found that I can book from here and ensure everyone would have a place lined up!

Mauiki! Please please please come see us at ko Pg, I have been sooooo looking forward to seeing you, designing some jewellery, spinning.... I really really really want to connect with you!

yeah ton sai is really really amazing! smile Its definitely the most spectacular place Ive been in thailand - and the people here are well chilled and laid back. Had a great spin party with Olive and Katinca here last night for the full moon - the guys at the bar we hang out at have a chunky sound system and are really chilled out...as are the tourists! yay! smile

I met a guy who is living here who is an amazing club pass juggler - so I've been getting into that too...such a pity no-one else is coming here...Ronan and Maggie - you guys could still come here devil

hehe - at low tide its not actually possible to swim here - but once its past 1/2 way in theres enough depth to swim.

Last nights full moon was awesome!

ah well - anyone else who is in thailand - I can really recommend this place - dont miss it.
