My mom has been calling me telling me not to go anywhere public on the 4th in Seattle. I have been blowing her off until today. I heard a dj on a local station talking about terrorists taking out Seattle . I don't have a t.v. and have heard nothing of this until now.

Has anyone else heard anything regarding this?

Am I crazy for even worrying about it?

peace & luv,

that's my little lightbug... tee hee, seriously though, i have not seen or heard of a country that is feeding their people in a manner that doesn't harm the earth, or that doesn't defend their freedom without hurting others. i don't know, we need to stop throwing stones at eachother, and come up with new ideas!!!

minus the , chairmen has a wonderful point. rather than saying "ur worse, no, ur worse" (and there is plenty of good and bad to be had, no argumemts there i hope?) perhaps we should all work on some sort of global peace? or even peace within our countries?

er... national pride is gonnna get in the way isn't it ... is peace and understanding even possible ? oi. now i'm sad.

Let me tell you a stroy, well it is kinda a joke too.

A man was walking down a beach and found a bottle. He opend the bottle and a magic gene came out, and offerd to grant the man 3 wishes. The man asked to be richer than his wildest dreams, and a split second later he was transported to his own privet island with all the fixins (some parts changed for length). He then wished for intelegence so that he could manage his finances. So it was. For his theird wish he thought of humanity and the world, so he wished for peace on Earth, a split second later every man, woman and child vanished from the planet.

The point I am making is that as long as there are people there will be fighting and wars. Mankind by nature is greedy. Peace is a dream for the foolish and the insaine.

Sucks dont it??

i see what you're saying. we've all become so set in our ways. we all feel like we would be happier if we had money, but how much is enough? i think that unfortunatley, the old ideas are going to stick around until a generation of people are willing to change. who knows what would be right though? there's something to be said for indivdual countries. who can decide which way of living is right? my way of life may not be right for a lightbug, or a Kyrian, or a Raymund Phule. i think we can set ourselves apart individually as countries, but we still need to work together as a planet earth. the melting pot that is the USA has helped bring forth many new ideas and ways of thinking. when you intergrate many different minds and ways of life, the possibilities are endless!!! again, bored at work and willing to give out my two pennies. and Kyrian, the is always neccessary! stay silly, stay happy! it's the only way to keep on going... tee hee

Raymond a little advice...

1. No-one listens to an arrogant closed minded american. Regardless of who you think you are, this is how you portray yourself. Your opinion would be much more valued on this discussion group if you were a little more accepting and diplomatic, even compassionate.

2. When ever I get a negative reaction from someone I look at myself and see what part of myself or what actions have offended them so greatly. I cant think of one country that doesn't have a general concenus that it hates America. It is one country in a whole world that's pissed off at it. Look at your country and see why they are so hated, keep your mind open when you do this and put aside your patriotism for a moment.

3. Your anger that the world doesn't accept you because of your country is obviously huge. I can count numerous times where you have been out right rude to people who express a critical view of the culture you were brought up in. Your country is far from the perfection that you as a person can uphold. Live your life through an expression which is untainted by the government's policies and opinions that they try to force upon their people. ALL governments are riddled with corruption and greed, none are perfect so just because they are our government doesn't mean we have to embrace their greed tainted policies & ideals.

4. You as an American have more power to change the American government than myself or any other non American person in this world. No government is perfect but they bloody well should be so dont let them express anything in this world that is anything but what you see as perfection because you are the people they are serving and they are accountable to you.

There is no judgement intended in what I say, I'm sorry if you take offence at it but I feel that some of things said should be embraced by more people to make a happier world.

Yep I can be down right rude at times, and I do recall many many times where I said America is not perfect, and that I am not perfect. But then again there are countries way way worse than America has ever been. Why is my country the target of everyones anger? I dont have the luxurie of deplomicy. And on any battle field compassion will get you killed.

I may be a cold hearted closed minded SOB, but that what keeps me alive!

I take little offence to your post but I do wonder how you can say that you dont pass judgement but you just wrote several paragraphs that did nothing but judge?

Least you could do is be honest at least with your self.

How does a marine saving the world from the evils of countries that are "way worse than America" have the time to run around in circles on a fire-twirling website telling everyone they should praise America like it is god whilst kissing their arse for bailing the world out of trouble caused by the use of weapons they created? (bet you have difficulties reading that one )

For someone who has to 'not show compassion' in order to survive on the battle field you have a hell of a lot of time to come in here and ramble. Shouldn't you be dodging bullets in the name of god and country.

I think it should be said that I (and I'd guess a few others) don't like what ANY particular governments are doing. The reason America gets targeted is cause they hold a lot of the chips. Sometimes they cash them in for great reasons and sometimes they are backwards. It has nothing to do with a soldier doing his job. It has nothing to do with the wonderful people who post here living out cool existences doing their thing (I site pele as an example here). It does have to do with things like the U.S. government issuing the kind of sanctions that have been responsible, for hundereds of thousands of deaths in Iraq for example. There they were on Saddam's doorstep with his army waving the white flag and they declare victory and move out, they then issue sanctions under the guise of "getting Saddam out of power" when they had the opportunity to do it on the spot. Doing something positive like stopping an illegal occupation is great but the sanctions? Well, like I said, backwards thinking in my opinion.

Incidently people stop posting on these issues because you guys don't listen rationally and argue like it's all been a personal attack. Tell me that Australia is hypocritical for hassling the Japanese over whaling whilst refusing to sign the Kyoto agreement. Tell me they were in Vietnam as well as being involved in WWI and II and not just the poor, hated Americans (who apparently were innocent and without agenda and simply left "holding the bag"). You won't get me saying that England's worse or anything of the sort.

"America is a shining light in the world" - pah!

People are shining lights, regardless of where they come from. Every country has their pluses and minuses but it is THE EARTH that is the shining light you arrogant mongs. Maybe if you some yanks didn't say sh!t like that people would still converse on their topics and not tire of the 'god bless America' stuff.

That's it, I retire from this topic too.

Well there is not much to do at 3 AM and the answer to your question, we have things called orders also we cant send the whole fleet into war, that would leave the US defenceless.

You have a rather large mouth BEZERKER I also never said America was a shining light but then again I never said anything bad about Austrailia. Every country has its ups and downs its good points and bad but that doesnt give anyone to the right to blame any country for the state of the world.

Let me do what I do and you can do whatever it is that you do.

thats just childish. and which american here is saying that everyone should kiss our arse .. we are just tired of hearing the endless shit talking like we are so different from england or somthin. thats crazy we are practically a mirror image of eachother and yet its americans that mak all the weapons and cause all the turmoil right?? are you that retarded??
seriously every conflict, save a handful, that america is involved in england is right there with us. so whats your point?

i dont take it as a personal attack. personally i dont give 2 sh*** and a fu** what anyone else thinks about my country. this is a message board though right??? stateing opinions and debateing, i think thats what its for. shame on you for trying to stifle our patriotism. if you want to beleive that everyones conspireing against you and goverment is out to get you fine. have fun numb nuts. go live in afganastan they like that kind of thinking. yeah lets blame our problems on the goverment sure why not. its americas fault lets try to blow them up then everything will be peachy.

I am about to say something bery hypocrytical of myself. Some will be angred some shocked but I feel that it will mean more comming from me,

Lightbug, bud you cant be biligerant like that, Dom made the comment to me that I was alot calmer than he expected. That is because I have learned a thing or 12 you cant just blast back at people. It just doesnt get anywhere, I know what your saying and what you mean but respect is something that you must learn I still have alot to learn as well but none the less we must still show a dregree of respect.

"live in afganastan they like that kind of
thinking"

Comments like that are unsubstantiated (sp) that wont help us win.

There is a reason why in combat you dont target civilians and that is because you will give the enimy something to fight for, you want to crush their spirit not make them seek revenge of anger them. Frustrate all to hell but dont give em somthing to fight for.

Saying things like that adds to their ammo, we dont need that.

Thats all, sorry to go off on you but its better comming from me, maybe you will understand and not be angry or as angry if it would come from someone else.
