Right, loads to get through, and lots to do today, so I'd better be as brief as possible.

Thursday 7th October [continued]

Spent Thursday evening spinning outside a pub called the Chainlocker. We span in the middle of town too. All good fun. Got a text from Mojo saying she missed me.

Friday 8th October.

Spent the day doing very little. Spent a couple of hours on the phone to Mo, which was really nice. Had a chat with a woman from the Student Times (a national student paper) and got comissioned to write an article about the British Institue in Paris. Played guitar a bit and in the early evening went wandering about town with Brad. We got back to mine about 9pm and there was a message on my voicemail from the VP of the Student Union asking if we could come and spin fire at the Freshers Ball that night. I immediately rang a taxi and the two of us zipped straight there. It was really good fun, our first proper professional gig, and I think everyone there really enjoyed it. Hopefully we'll be paid for it as well, I need to contact the Union office and find out how much etc.

We met a whole bunch of cool people, told even more about the circus society, and afterwards went back to one of the halls of residence buildings with a bunch of girls we met and had a smoke with them til about 4am. Went home, Brad stayed over, and we smoked til the early hours.

Saturday 9th October

Again, spent a large amount of the day on the phone to Mojo. I won't bore you with the details, but rest assured that it was a really good conversation, and I love her more than ever. In the evening Nick and I went down to Sarah and Lucy's. Our mate Andy (Sarah's housemate from last year) had come down for a visit, so we ended up playing a drinking game based on Play Your Cards Right. Got very drunk. Ended up going home about 11pm and vegging out. Had a chat with Mojo again about 2am-ish, then went to bed.

Sunday 10th October

Got up around midday, and wandered down to Bumps house to get a lift to Tremough Campus for the Freshers Fayre. The fayre is basically the thing where all the little 1st years come to choose their extra-curricular activites, plus be pitched to by a bunch of local businesses (nightclubs, bakeries etc.) Brad, Bump and I span outside for a couple of hours, whilst Dave, Sarah and some others sat inside signing people up. The Circus Society has signed up 64 new members. Someone the other day actually commented on how cool it was that we have a "Spinning Culture" down here. biggrin

Got back to mine around 6-ish, ate some food, and spent the evening reading, watching Family Guy and laying around smoking. Tried to go to sleep early but ended up lying in bed fully awake for a few hours. Rang Mojo at 3.30am to wake her up for work. Then slept.

Monday 11th October.

Today was a cool day. Woke up around 12ish and cursed myself for missing yet another Magazines session. At 1pm I walked to the station and got on the train for Plymouth. At Penryn, Brad got on, and we made our way to Plymouth Pavillions, where we had both been hired to perform at a corporate event for Wrigleys, the chewing gum manufacturer. There were a bunch of other performers there, stilit walkers, dancers and stuff, and essentially we spent 3 hours on trains, 2 hours in make-up (painting myself red from head to waist biggrin) and half an hour actually spinning. Still, we got our expenses back, and got a hundred quid for the effort. We laughed all the way back to Falmouth, eating the free baguettes and drinking the free beer, and chuckling about being "Professional Fire Performers". Hahahahaha. biggrin

Once back we grabbed Nick and headed for the pub. After a couple of pints in a couple of little pubs, (The Sea View, The Jacob's Ladder) we ended up in the Hub with Sarah, Ria and Danielle, where we drank a large amount of vodka. Not content with this, Nick then paid for us to go in to Shades, a truly dodgy nightclub, just so he could drink some more. Pisshead. By going there we (Brad, Nick and myself) doubled their amount of customers. Got back home around 1ish and watched Jersey Girl, the new Kevin Smith movie. Words, frankly, fail me. Here's what I think happened: Once upon a time there was a guy called Kevin Smith. He made an amazing film, "Clerks", and a few ok ish ones. Then he was abducted by aliens and replaced by an android who insists on making sub-standard rom-com [censored]. With Jennifer Lopez in it. Only watch "Jersey Girl" if you crave dissapointment.

Brad went home in a taxi about 3am, looking distinctly pale from the killer bongs that Nick was forcing on him. I rang Mojo, woke her up and chatted for a bit, then went to bed.

Tuesday 12th October.

Woke up at 8am feeling pretty [censored]. Had a shower, then wandered into town to buy some fags and a paper. Came home, had a cup of tea and a spliff, then went to my ethics lecture. Had an argument about Truth (i love arguing about intangibles, tis so much fun;)) and then came here to update this.

They're charging us to print things at college now. 5p a sheet. How much does that take the piss? Still, CircSoc tonight, and there should be about 100 members.

There's always cool stuff to look forward to.

Fun fun fun.

Tuesday 13th October [continued]

After leaving college yesterday, I went home and finished reading this, which only took about a day to read. Very funny though, recommend it to any one. Not the films though, which don't come close.

Then I went to sleep.

Woke up about 6.20pm, had a swift J and headed to the methodist church hall for Circus Society. Despite the fact that is wasn't supposed to start until 7pm there were already about 20 people there. By the end we had two rooms, a Poi room and an "other" room (mainly Brad's juggling class, but also some staff, tumbling, diablo and devilsticks.) I spent the first half of the session teaching basic poi moves to people, then went next door and taught a couple of people the basic set of staff moves. Did a bit of "trying to learn a handspring" but didn't get very far. Falmouth CircSoc now has 50 fully paid up members, and I don't have to pay the £1 sub every wekk cos I teach all the time. biggrin Yay.

Once everything started wrapping up Brad and I nipped to Spar to buy some food then went to mine for a quick bifter. Got down the beach about 10pm and had a burn. The beach café had a hip-hop night, so we had some good tunes to listen to as we span. A couple of the newbie CircSoc members came down too, it was nice, if a little cold and occasionally rainy.

Got home about half 11. Nick got home about 1am and we watched A Mighty Wind. Quality film, laughed my ass off. Rang Mojo to wake her up at half 3, then read a bit of Baudrillard and went to sleep.

Wednesday 13th October

Today I woke up about 2pm. Felt good for it, but now my body clock is gonna be totally fried. Cleaned the house a bit, had a shower and renewed my library books. Some people came round to look at Esther's room, a couple, but I don't think they were overly impressed. It is a very small room, and me and Nick glaring at them couldn't have helped. smile

Now I'm off into town to buy some food. I might go to open mike night tonight and sing for a pint. Not sure yet. Maybe it's cos I slept all day, make just cos the weather's a bit wierd, but I'm feeling a bit odd. Not down exactly, just there's a building sense of "Oh [censored] I'm gonna be homeless and skint unless some money turns up soon".

Oh well. See you tomorrow.

Because she works wierd shifts. At the moment she's working 5am til 1pm, so she wakes up at half 3. And as I'm quite often up at that time, I ring her to help her get up. I didn't last night though, even though I was awake.

Wednesday 13th [continued]

I headed into town and bought some provisions and stopped in to say hi to Sarah, Lucy and Danielle quickly. Then strolled to a pub to find Nick and watch a bit of the England match. It was fairly dull so I came home and had some dinner (Cod in Lemon and Black Pepper with Spicy potato wedges and veg) and played guitar for a bit, trying to work out what I was gonna play at open mic.

Got to Jake's (the pub) about 8ish; Nick and a couple of guys from his year were already there. Sarah, Lucy, Danielle and Ria all came up for a drink, and after a few people had played it became my turn. My first mistake was to sit on a really high stool, so my leg started vibrating uncontrollably, partly through nerves and partly because of the wierd angle it was at. I started with one of my own songs, and then swung into Billy Bragg's "New England", which is usually quite popular as a lot of people know it. Then, just for a laugh, and to make Nick happy, I played a ska version of "I will survive" by Gloria Gaynor. The pub fair erupted with applause, and lots of people were laughing, so I guess it was a job well done. Later on I played a few more with other people, bit of Pumpkins, bit of Incubus, the usual sh*t. biggrin Then I headed to Stevie/Travis/Jess/everyone else's house for a smoke and had a tinkle on a guitar there. I have agreed to give guitar lessons to one of the many housemates. Not sure how good a teacher I'll be, but it could be a laugh.

Got back home around half 12 and watched " Dodgeball", which made me laugh lots and lots and lots. Ben Stiller's writing is brilliant. Then Nick stuck a bit of Ultimate Fighting on and we chuckled at the big men grappling with each other wearing only their pants. Most Ultimate Fighters seem to have big-ass porn star moustaches, which don't really help them look any more masculine. smile

Went to bed about 4ish after reading a bit more Baudrillard. It's social commentary disguised as philosophy disguised as poetry. He makes some good points, but seems to revel in his ability to articulate them in as flowery way as possible.

Thursday 14th October.

Woke up about 2pm. Showered, dressed and got straight on the phone to drum up some quotes for the British Institute story. Didn't get very far, but did get some very interesting background knowledge from the Head of Languages at a top Northern Uni. Should be able to mail the story tomorrow, providing I can get a decent soundbite from the director of the institute itself. :fingerscrossed:

No plans for tonight. Probably end up watching movies with Nick and smoking heavily. Seems to be a recurring pattern.

Not going to Lanson this weekend. Was going to, but Mojo's working all weekend so there seems little point. I have the kids next week, so I guess I'll see her then.

Love to all

Thursday 14th October [continued]

I had totally forgotten, but one of the CircSoc guys, Bump, is a photography student, and he wanted to take some photo's of me as part of a project on alternative portraiture. This consisted of me standing in his garden, at night, in front of very big, bright lights and him taking photos of bits of my face from very close up. Heh. F*ckin art students. biggrin Knowing him they'll look pretty groovy though. I said I'd go do a studio shoot for him next week. Look at me, I'm a model. One of the pictures is here. ubblol Quickly popped round to Lucy's to drop some green off and sat watching Magnolia with them for a bit. They were about 2 hours in when i got there, so I stuck around for the song then headed home.

At first, Nick and I couldn't decide what movie to watch, so he ordered a pizza. Get this: Meat Feast with kebab meat, anchovies, pineapple, jalapeno peppers and extra cheese. Crazy. Death by pizza. Then we watched "Hearts of Darkness", which was pretty feckin' cool. Briefly thought about watching "Elephant", but decided it was too heavy, so watched "Fist of Legend" instead. Top coolness, not enough staff action though.

Nick was flaking, so I went to bed and lay in the dark smoking spliffs and watching Pi

Very very cool movie. Been wanting to watch it for ages and was not disappointed. Pretty dark, but also kinda funny in a sadistic way.

By this time it was 5am, so i fell asleep.

Friday 15th October

Woke up about 1pm. Had a joint and a shower and rang Rosie. Probably gonna go visit her and Ben in a bit. Sat and learned to play "Better be quiet now" by Elliot Smith. Nice song. Kinda sad. But what do you expect from a guy who stabbed himself in the heart?

Don't know if I'll be able to post over the weekend, but I'll try hard to remember what I get up to. Have fun, wherever you are.

Weekend 15th - 17th October

Dull. Dull. DULL.

Friday night watched movies with Nick. Then spent over an hour on the phone to my friend Sian in Loughborough talking stoned [censored].

Saturday just missioned around, visited Rosie and Ben, Brad came over, watched Pi again with him and some other movie with Vincent Gallo in it with Nick.

Sunday slept til 3.30pm. Went and played scrabble with Lucy and Nick at Lucy's house. Lost both times. Came home, Played Max Payne 2 on the computer, read "Media and the Persian Gulf War" til 4am then slept.

Monday 18th October.

Woke up at 3pm. Yep, you guessed it, slept through all my damn lectures again. Got up cursing and started worrying about money. That's it. That's the highlights of my weekend. If I don't find work soon, I'm gonna starve.
