Well, as my original intro was lost, I guess I get the chance to redo my room!!! Feel free to come on in, just PLEASE take your shoes off at the door! Thank you.
Well here's me (again)...
*NAME- Amanda
*SEX- female
*AGE- 23
*LOCATION- Hmmm... a tricky one! Currently in Durham. I spend my summers in France (miles from civilization), and spring and autumn in Wales (do sheep count as civilization? If so, then a thriving community!)
*FAV. TOYS- at the moment my fire poi, but also my juggling balls, diabolo, my new staff, guitar, mountain bike, and of course my beloved kayak!...too many more to mention!
*TWIRLING SINCE- learned bits of stuff since 2000, but only really got into it this year. I was on crutches for 3wks, after dislocating my knee (ow!), so I spent all the time learning new poi stuff (every cloud has a silver lining eh?).
*OCCUPATION- Outdoor Activity Instructor/ river guide
*HOBBIES- naturally my poi and stuff, but also do lots of kayaking, canoeing, climbing, mountain biking, snowboarding, and bits of other sports.
*FAV. PLACE- Specific favourite one is sat on the edge of the cliff, overlooking the gorge where I work in France, with nothing around for miles apart from the wild boar, and watching either the sunset in the distance, or one of the impressive lightning storms we have.
I also love anywhere where I can sit on a mountain or beside a river, hearing nothing but the noises of nature. A BIG reminder of the beauty of it all...
Anyway, thats pretty much me in a nutshell! Feel free to come and chill in my room- its a great place for relaxing and being at one with nature! (and who said i was a hippie?!
). On the plus side, tea and cakes are supplied for free!!! And if i'm feeling generous i may even let Narr in with her weird marmite/chocolate spread mix! euch!Catch you all soon,

Ok, so more random stuff from France...
I was paddling down 'day 3' of the trip (we do a 3 day descent of 36km), and was in the last 4km, where the gorge starts opening out. Various people often walk into this end of the gorge to either sunbathe during the day, or to have drinking/ smoking type gatherings on a night.
Anyway, I was paddling along, and noticed a fairly large rock with a flat front to it. Someone had painted the front of it, so I paddled closer to see if I could see it any better (it was quite a bit higher up than me). I could make out a swirly sun in the corner, and flames coming up from the bottom of the rock. I couldn't quite make out what else was on it, but it looked like a rough shape of a man, with his arms out, painted in brown, orange and red.
Immediate thought... burning man?
Well, I never got the chance to go and have a close look at it, so I'm not really sure. I think it was though, which is kinda cool.

Eleanor is here!!!
I'm so happy!
Spitfire was being all mysterious yesterday, and saying she had to pop out on the evening to get a surprise.
She went out in the car... and came back with Eleanor! (pengwino, for those who don't know).
Spitfire has REAL trouble in keeping surprises (a bit like me), but she knew about this before she even came to France, and managed to not say a word.

tee hee, yay i am here in houston, it was much fun being a surprise for mand, i don't think i've ever been a surprise for somebody before the sun is shining and all is good - but it's looking stormy outside...... yes pounce we both (mand and i) took a look at your thread - oh girl, i bet you are stupidly happy.. bought back memories of you in kent looking at the top posts page with dreamy eyes of being no.1

you know, it actually caught me by surprise. i've just been posting as normal, not thinking about being #1. i've actually cut back a lot on my posting, only been replying to threads i really wanted to, and even stopped reading all of the threads.
