Dragon Fire Staff

A Dragon Staff aka Dragonstaff is a contact staff with Fire Spokes coming off at right angles near the ends of the Staff/Pole. The extra weight from the spokes helps you to be able to do 'Contact' style moves. Contact style moves are where you use the weight and drag of the staff to perform rolls and manipulate it's direction by using pressure from any part of your body.

If you have ever used Flower Devilsticks then this is a much bigger version but instead of using control hand sticks you use any part of your body.

For the handle part of the pole, you will want a long section of grip tape running 70% of the pole leaving a safe distance between the end of the tape and the Kevlar® wicks. Heat shrink tubing to finish each end of the tape will provide a much longer-lasting handle. Be aware that because of the increased momentum that a Dragon Staff can create you will not want loose hair, jewelry, or clothing that could get wrapped around the handle. So covered hair and tight clothing are a must-have.

The spokes should be bendy enough to take up the shock of your Dragon Staff hitting yourself or the ground. Having bendy wicks will also minimize any breakages, kickbacks, or rebound injuries. Quick-release and 'click in' spokes helps with refueling the wicks and makes the whole Dragon Staff easier to transport and helps to keep other gear clean from fuel residue.

The Pole / Staff usually is quite long for contact moves, so an excellent stable breakdown system will help to get the length down to a more manageable size to fit into a Fire Staff Suitcase or carry bag.

To help maximize the weight distribution at the ends of a Dragon Fire Staff a less heavy and hardened aluminum tube is ideal. Although if you make your own Fire Dragon Staff, you can get away with slightly heavier materials that will also not bend easily. And after cutting your pipe make sure there are no sharp edges that could cut you or someone else badly.

The great thing about our easily removable hubs and loose spokes is that you really can have as little as two, they only require them to be spaced out evenly to prevent the staff from wobbling. You can even add additional hubs and spokes onto the end of the pole. The maximum number is whatever you can handle.

All our Dragon Staff For Sale is collapsible. They collapse down to the hub parts. For beginners, most do jump straight into it. We do have the matrix dragon claws available that work with the matrix dragon kit perfect for practice Spiral Dragon Staff and Beginner Dragon Staff.

The claws have a slight flex in them so they will never break and come in a range of colors.

You could also buy the Dragon Fire Staff and put colorful socks, or fire covers over the wicks to preserve the Kevlar(R) wicks for later use.
