Name: Laasya

Sex: f
Toys: Flag poi, Crystal poi, hopefully levi-wand in the future
Hobbies: Writing, dancing, gaming
Godzilla vs. a Star Wars Star Destroyer. Who wins? Why?: Star Destroyer. Wouldn't Godzilla asphyxiate in space? Unless Godzilla is inside of the Star Destroyer, in which case he would be against the Imperial stormtroopers inside. Now that would be a fascinating watch... I think Godzilla would win that one.
Favorite Music Artists/Composers: Versailles is my absolute favorite band of all time. Favorite artist is Utada Hikaru. Others include: Outersect, Kaya Project, Susumu Hirasawa, Config|Sys PROJECT, Nomic, Ayreon, Aural Vampire, and many others
Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: I see your ice cream and raise you a cheesecake.
Marmite, Vegemite, or Nutella?: Never had marmite or vegemite, but I adore Nutella K3

I have been dancing since I was 6 years old (I'll let you decide how long ago that was) and started color guard when I was 12. I became fascinated with different styles of dance, swing flags in particular. My attempts at researching swing flags led me to poi, and here I am! I bought my first set of poi (flag poi) from HoP in May 2010 and received them early in June. I've been spinning poi since and hope to find other people to spin poi with smile

My youtube name is foxinsocks506. Once I get a proper videocamera, I will upload some poi videos. I also have a wordpress blog called Resplendence which I add to daily.

I'm happy to be a part of the Home of Poi community! My goal is to not only become better with poi, but to also contribute to HoP and help this community grow smile

Woot East Coast !!! Unfortunately, I am not in Delaware =/ I live where the letter "R" is mostly disregarded. Except at the end of "idea" where it is dutifully added.

And aston, if you happen to see a squirrel singing songs in the park, accompanied by a rather large and mostly bald woman with a guitar, I suggest you give him a small donation. Squirrely wrath is best to be avoided at all costs...

*Fugee and Bren know what my accent sounds like*

If you we're in the mid-atlantic I'd totally spin with you and I just found a local (2 hours away tongue2 ) group, but I'll try to be helpful from here none the less for you! yes

pleasure to meet you laasya! I too find my soul release in writing. What medium (i dare ask a format ) do you find yourself writing most often? I tend write whatever my observations (life) inspire. poetry most often. Then again isn't it all :-)

@lilBrobec: I write fiction/fantasy/adventure prose most often. I try to reflect common conflicts in a not-so-common way to make it a tad more exciting haha. I love poetry but I'm not terribly good at writing it so I stick mostly to my noveling. smile Have you ever tried to spin poi to your writing? It's a thought I got after watching Nick Woolsey's "The Beautiful Thing About Ashes" video. If we can spin according to the emotion of a song, why not spin according to the emotion of a poem? Lyrics are poetry, after all grin

Hint for the region I live in: Poi is wicked fun! shocked

"Wicked"... That's a very Massachusetts thing to say, or Sailor Moon, but every time I've ventured up to New England that love that adjective. smile

I attempted a search for Nick's video to follow your train of thought. Though it was taken off playpoi as well as youtube. Couldn't guess why. I love your interpretations. That's a wonderful notion to spin the passion of my poetry!

I see the world in a relative rhythm crafting the details of God's creations. I havn't had the attention to novel my thoughts as I rush with this current.
That's amazing to me. You must have a steady (not necessarily sane ;-) mind to novel.

Regardless of the nature, the format, of our scripts I hear you when you say you reflect conflict in not-so common ways. I love the relations in life.

You spoke my language :-)

By the way nice job with your "Lux Aeterna" inspiration. I first translated your story to reflect that of any community being victim to foreign oppressive governing powers. My less literal take was that of one's oppressed aspirations. The fight to become your dreams. I love, but can't listen, to that song very often. Most likely because of it's relation to Requiem for Dream. Deep, beautiful, too dark too real.

Here's the video: Poi Showdown: Nick Vs Yuta I quite enjoyed it =D

Thanks for you input! Natiae's story is very much about oppression, but also about staying strong and holding your ground in times of conflict, instead of running away from it. I was thinking of using that storyline for NaNoWriMo this year, but it might count as cheating since I already wrote some of it lol

The world and Universe are ever-changing, following their own flow to a rhythm we only hope to mirror in our art, our dance, our words and music. A rather daunting exercise, but the flow is impossible not to enjoy =)

@Ascilith - Precisely why I would love to see Godzilla vs an army of stormtroopers. Then to see Vader try a force choke on Godzilla would be amusing... Anyways, thanks for the welcome and the popcorn!

I'm over in NYC if you're in the area and need a group of spinners there's a really amazing group I'm with called Got Fire? that meets usually on the first thursday of every month, but we meet on our own far more frequently.

Its all hush hush right now, but me and a few performers (I'm actually the only poi artist in the current roster) are talking of forming together as a traveling troupe. When that time comes we'll definitely come visit places, especially if there are payed gigs to cover travel expenses.

ALso, SoD, two things.

First, Detroit Fire Guild is an amazingly awesome name

Second, and I'm not sure why I've never said this before, DETROIT ROCK CITY!
