Hi all, I figured I'd finally introduce myself. I must admit I have an ulterior motive here as well, I'm searching for local spinners, so if any of you live nearby or know anyone who does drop me a line!

Here's the list:

Name: Lee, obviously tongue2

Location: Hanover, NH, USA (I don't go there, but it's where Dartmouth College is)

Hometown: South Strafford VT, USA, aka the most beautiful place on earth, aka the middle of friggen nowhere!

Birthday(Sign): I'm a Taurus through and through, baby!

Age: 25

Sex: Male

Occupation: By trade I'm an engineering technician, but currently I'm going to school online and taking care of my 1 year old daughter full time.

Favorite Food: Man, I can't answer that! I love to cook, and I have extremely varied taste. If it won't kill you, I'll eat it! (except for anchovies! Yuck!)

Favorite Color: I go for subdued tones, lots of blacks, browns, greys, soft oranges or blues, anything toned down and not vibrant really, although I've always liked the way bright blue or red mixes with dark black.

What is the wing speed of an unladen swallow?: Not taking into account the misquotation of Monty Python, which is a sin among all sins (it's "what is the AIRSPEED VELOCITY of an unladen swallow >_< ), it's 0, once the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog gets its teeth on it smile

Toys: Poi, Staff, Rope Dart, and when I feel like hitting myself repeatedly in the head, Meteor Hammer.

Hobbies other than the obvious: Cooking, computer programming, video games, anime, partying, and taking care of my beautiful daughter, to name a few.

Education: Associates of Science in Computer Engineering Technology from Vermont Technical College, and I'm working towards my bachelors in the same from DeVry online.

Favorite Books: Man, too many to count! Currently I've been reading the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan because I needed something easy, but some of my all time favorites are the Earthsea trilogy by Ursula K. Leguin, House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski, Just a Couple of Days by Tony Vigorito (I have the cosmic egg tattooed on my right bicep), The Asian Saga by James Clavell, The Dancing Wu-Li Masters by Gary Zukav, and on and on and on....

Favorite Movies: Man, these questions are hard! Umm... a lot of anime, anything by Hayao Miyazaki or Studio Ghibli, old samurai flicks with Musashi Miyamoto, most of the Phillip K. Dick movie adaptations (Keanu Reeves was great in A Scanner Darkly, he should stick to playing drug addicts lol), for heavy censored I liked Requiem for a Dream and Life is Beautiful, and on and on and on...

Favorite TV Shows: I don't watch TV really, I just download what I want to see. I find that I can't stop myself from zoning out and wasting time in front of the tube when I have cable, so I just don't buy it. Having said that, I love House MD, Lost, and Heroes, not to mention the numerous anime series I like (not stupid syndicated americanized anime, I'm talking about stuff like Gantz, Last Exile, Elfen Lied, etc).

Plans for life in general: Getting my BS and probably my MS, getting waaay better at skill toys, and making the best life I can for my daughter, for a start.

Favorite Music Artists/Composers: What's with these damn questions? It would probably be easier to list the stuff I DON'T like than my favorites! I don't like most country, pop, or gangsta rap, although there are exceptions to the rule. I guess a couple bands off the top of my head that I've been listening too are Depeche Mode, the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, the Pixies, Thievery Corporation, Infected Mushroom, The Strokes, O'Death, Primus, Miles Davis, R.L. Burnside, god, it just keeps going! I will say that my favorite composer is probably Samuel Barber. Adagio for Strings is amazing, and I love that an early 20th century American composer wrote something that moving.

Do you think these pants make my butt look too big?: Naaah girl, I looove those curves!

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: Gotta support my home town, anything from Strafford Organic Creamery! That stuff is the best!

Marmite, Vegemite, or Nutella?: I know that some of you Australians are going to have a heart attack over this, but I love all of them! I just wish that stuff wasn't more expensive than friggen gold here in the states! Anyone wanna trade for some cinnamon gum?

*P.S. I just saw that I have to choose one from the three, so I guess I'll have to go with Vegemite, although I don't quite understand comparing it and Marmite with nutella, they seem like completely different things.

So, that's me rolled into a series of standardized questions. I will now return to my ultimate goal of the moment, looking for local spinners! Anyone out there from Vermont or New Hampshire? Or even better (but much less likely), from the Upper Valley?

Anyway, hi to all of home of poi, this is a kickass website, thanks for all the lessons and advice you've unknowingly given me already! Keep spinning!

Welcome! Mind the squirrels, they can bite.

The Earthsea Quartet was indeed a very good series of books. smile

lol, it's still called the Earthsea trilogy, even though there are four tongue2 btw, there's an anime by the same people who did Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away based on Earthsea, called Tales of Earthsea. It's pretty badass, check it out!

I have always thought of it as the Earthsea Quartet. tongue2

Oooo.... Must see if I can track it down.

And Elfen Lied was odd. Cool. But odd.

Hi from Vermont. I'm here looking for fellow spinners too, though i'm not sure i really count yet since i'm just starting to try to learn and looking for someone to teach me. If you're ever in the Saint Albans area ish and don't mind teaching an extreme beginner i'd love to meet up.
