There is a way to create an adjustable knot. Each loos end is tied to the string and you can slide it back and forth to loosen/tighten it as needed.

cheers. so a mini hangmans noose? I still remember how to make one from when my grandad told me when i was about 10. (mum wasnt too impressed however)

a bit, but I would avoid an actual noose unless your tether is quite long. It tends to eat up the length with the extra fold inside.

Im not sure if I remember correctly, but I dont think you can actually do a noose on both sides. They have to kind of slide along through each other.

Hi, Geeza. If you search for "double fisherman's knot"
on YouTube, there's a very clear video with directions.
Here's a link:


This knot works well in round leather cord, satin cord,
and any other firmly twisted or braided cord. Just make
sure the necklace still goes over your head after you've
tied the knots. Then slide one of the knots down the
cord until the pendant sits where you want it, and then
slide the second knot far enough so that the 2 cords at
the back are the same length.
You can trim the ends or else tighten the knots in such a
way that the ends are quite short. If the cord is nylon
or some other material that melts, you can melt the end
to prevent fraying.
