my suggestion is to slowly trace ouy your arm pattens without poi (but visualise the path that the poi takes)untill they feel comfortable, this is to build muscle memory, then try it with poi and with a bit of time and luck you will get it.

This is what i do when learnig new tricks and i personally find that it helps to cement the muscle memory of a new move, that said and done it still feels weird once you have the weight of the poi in you hands but you could consider it a basic stepping stone when learing a new trick.

Never had this myself but funny enough was showing rev weave to a girl lately who had the same problem.

I guess dizzy is right to say visualize what you want to do, then start with 1 poi each side, then go 2 poi.

It might also help to remember the basics re wrist and timing:
- Poi rev turn by scooping wrist up, so when flipping side, turn your wrist 180
- Flip sides when poi is up, thats alyways the best point to change trajectory of poi

either my mind is talking gibberish these days, or it's pedantic

Any which way (my 2ct), if you're having troubles with the reverse weave, I usually recommend the following:

Use the same stages as you learned the forward weave patterns. Usually I teach

1) just x-ing over once "right over left", or "left over right" - then

2) make one circle on the same side - two on the opposite

3) hold out your right arm and use the left "over, under and out" (as in "back to the same side")

Is this clear?

Now I'd advocate the same procedure for "reverse" - just in the other direction.

Similar as Dizzy puts it: train that muscle memory.

All (reverse) moves will feel weird at first, until you simply performed them often enough... "luck" has nothing to do with it - IMHO

I have to argue tom, luck does play a small part, don't you remember the days when you tried a new move with shut eyes and gritted teeth untill you luck finally came in and the trick worked.

Or when you messed up a trick but you luckily recovered in style and in the process learn't a new area of tricks to work on.

I will however say luck only ever plays a part in the very early stages of learning a new trick, up to the point where you are begining to undestand how the trick works and after that it is practice practice and more practice.

yes, c'mon let's have an argument here

"luck" always got it's part... some have loads of it and then masquerade it as "talent" - much to my disgust

I remember those days... just last night was one of them neckwraps with short chains forgot to let go long after buzzsaw

i added a extra loop all the time, i just went slow and when i did this i stopped and started over

am so glad i am not the only 1 havin probs with back ward weave ive been trying for weeks and if i ever get close i end up goin foward again. or hit myself in the head its very frustrating as you know what to do but as tom and dizzy say u need to re learn. its just bloody annoying when u know u can do it forwards.

arizla - it's the same movement. It IS the same movement, just from a different angle you will see, once you surpassed that point (and you have no idea HOW certain I am that you will)

See that is the problem with online tuition: it can never effectively replace a one-on-one teacher...

You would be passed this point already, if you had one

Try doing a forward weave and turning your body 180º as the poi are coming across the the same side (doesn't matter which). Turn fairly quickly and keep the poi spinning on the same line (plane) and the motion kind of naturally translates.

i took the poi away and traced the pattern with my hands and then with poi wrapped around my hand and then with it short and then the whole length
then trained the other hand
it was a very slow process
