Big Fatty Tube Socks!
Welcome to HOP. You may not know this but there is an Intro Forum for threds like this one. If you surf around the sight, you can get a feel for what people are about.
You don't need to wait for your poi to arrive. you can use big fatty tube socks with tennis balls in them, or you can put a hole in the tennis balls and put a string through them to build practice poi. Why wait?

And check out the "meet others" section under community, as there's loads going on in London and it would be a lot easier to learn that way probably.
