Well, I'm new around here - I only learned of fire poi a few months ago from a few friends at a chain maille forum. (Armored Raven and Enchantress to name two) So, I've made some sock poi and I started learning the spins just the other night. (Wonderful online instructions, thank you.)

I'm already having fun and I'm amazed by the talent of everyone I've watched via video. (Poi, staff, etc) It's not as easy as it looks.

Question - Does anyone fire-spin in the winter? It seems that all the videos I've watched are during warm seasons. Anyone tape theirselves spinning in the snow or ice?

Just Curious

I'll be around,

Hi and welcome Julie! wave I do remember saying hi to another chainmaille person, but can't remember exactly who it was now...

In the snow.. not yet had a chance to (it doesn't snow very much here in Brisbane ubblol) but will get to it as soon as I can.. I can imagine it'd make some interesting reflections on the ground. I also remember seeing at least one poi-in-the-snow picture in the gallery, but again can't remember (sorry!) whose gallery exactly it was. Anyway! It is doable, and I think you should make the first video wink

Lol! Well, lemme see - I don't care for nuts much. I love my kids - they're nutty. In fact, my entire family could be counted as one big nut.

Favorite type of pig - they're all good smile

Hmm, I've been trying to figure out how"the weave" works all day - watching the online lesson and struggling with it in my head smile I've never tried anything like this before- it's very foreign to me, but still a lot of fun.
Good thing I'm using sock poi or I'd have two black eyes by now smile

Hmm - I will, indeed, make a winter/snow video. I'm moving soon to a house that has a gigantic yard which would look just gorgeous in the winter. The once or twice that it does snow around here, if at all. (I live in Little Rock, Arkansas)

Other than my online family I know no one who mailles or spins fire - I'm an alone soul in the reaches of this state, but - one match is all you need, eh? Once I light up outside I'm sure I'll draw a crowd and plenty of "I want to learn how to do that."

I'm married to a wonderful man (well - he's just your average joe but can use the enthusiastic support any time), he's in the military, and until my daughter begins school I'll be a housewife (gotta have something to do in the meantime - so, that's maille and poi, for me) I have three children. Two sons - they're 7, 5 and my daughter is one.

(You asked for more info on me - see, now I won't shut up) biggrin

Any tips from anyone out there?
