wave Hi, I'm brand spanking new to HOP, never even new it existed until I stumbled upon it recently. Only just starting to get my sea legs as far as the technology thing goes. Just typed poi into a search engine and BAM, Here I am. And right glad I am too.

Been spinning for years on and off, started in South Africa and the enthusiasm kinda waned once I got to the UK and refused to leave the warmth of indoors for months. Years later I am regaining my passion and learnig to accept that 26 degrees celcius is warm.

Think Hop is amazing, looking forward to learning and living and loving and growing. biggrin

Wow! Pan's Labrynth was really good, I've never had my heart beat so fast while watching a film. It was a lot more gruesom than I had expected, and I probably wouldn't recommend watching it too late at nigt, or on your own,but still, all in all, an absolutely brilliant film. biggrin

did you think PL was in her head or not, thats what im not sure about,

i dont knwo what to think, i kind of like it when a film does that to me, but i dont like it at the same time :S

as for the illusionist, and the prestige, they are both about magicians, or illusionists.

without giving anything away, they are both about death and loss, and both full of twists, but the presige does its twists in a much better way, so that you are not sure where the next twill come from, or it will keep your eye with onetwist, and smack you on eth side of the head with another.

I think PL was just a sad film and all that was in her head. She made it up to help her cope with what was going on around her, because she read a lot of books she had a strong imagination...so it's quite harsh really, but good. smile

but it was things like the blood book, and the plant root, and when teh root was destroyed, her mum instanly went into birth again....

i think it was one of those where you are not supopsed to be 100% sure what wasin her head, and what was real

i do agree that lots of it seemed or was in her head to cope with the war, and the rebels, and her new home, but i also think it was written to me was to lead you to believe that it was real, but that it could also have been made up

cos don't you also see a fairy at the start, even before she has reached the house, or does a fly land on her ben, and become teh fairy?

* ANYONE WHO HASN'T SEEN PANS LABRYNTH DONT READ THE NEXT FEW POSTS-SPOILERS*

She sees a bug, which I think her imagination turns into a fairy. You see the bug as a bug before it changes once she shows it a picture of a fairy.

What blood book? An empty book that she saw thing's in? That her imagination may have conjoured? Her mother may have started giving birth as soon as she threw the root in the fire, but it was also the first time she had stood up and she started telling her daughter off and was upset, it could have brought on the birth- stress can do that, even in a healthy person, and she was ill and weak anyway.

Just my personal opinion.

no, when you say it like that, yes it does start to make sence also

the bloody book, is when she is in the other room reading teh book, and it turns red, and looks like blood, she goes into the other room, and then he mum is bleeding.

i think the bit with the fairy eater, was all about her missing her dinner, and slipping out into another part of teh house eating somethings, and maybe a gaurd seeing her, and she turned it into something in her head....

Yeah... you know when you just get a feeling about something, with no direct influence (sight sound etc) that you can speak of. Like when you have an urge to call someone, not knowing why and they end up really needing you, or you have a bad feeling about something and it turns out to be bad in the end, or even where you just have this feeling that you have forgotten something and it plays on your mind. I think the girl either might have felt something was wrong with her mother or as she opened the book she started hearing distress noises from her mother and then seen the blood in the book.

I think all the fantasy stuff is just in her head.. that fairy eater bit freaked the hell out of me at the cinema though, thats the bit where I started having pulpitations..I believe I stopped breathing for a little while too ubblol

PL kind of annoyed me, the little girl wasn't just in a fantasy she didn't think things through, the only decent bit was when the eyeball hand monster appeared and I didn't see the point of the egg timer if she could just draw another door?
apart from the underlying message "break all the rules and you'll become a princess" it was a bit of a disappointment.

although.. a lot of films disappoint me nowadays, 300 and illusionist aside (I didn;t think I would like the illusionist at the start)

trust me, go watch teh perstige, its far better i think

i liked PL, but like mirror mask, i thought it was trying to be something it wasnt really.

I think that in the past few years there have been a couple of movies trying to regain the glory, or Dark crystal, and labyrinths, but not doing it well. You kow those 80's and 90's sci fi movies which had a huge following.
