Well, i was thinking, and i thought about all the people who make you smile from day to day. all the dumb little nice things they do that make your day better. and maybe you do the same for someone else. so i was thinking, why not share some stories of nice things people have done taht made you happy?

One i particuarly remember is a long time ago when i was having a horrible day and then everything fell out of my binder at school and scattered on the floor in the middle of class... and a rather nice boy turned around and he smiled at me and moved as if to offer to help until the teacher tol dhim to sit down or he was going to the office (he wasn't well liked by the teacher) but i've always remembered that smile...

more recently i can think of other little things, hello's left on my computer, and the offerings of hugs even if they arn't all from people close enough to hug me....

and a friend the other day, when she foudn out about my college situtation, offered to send me $20, noting, "it's not a lot, but... in the end, i'll never miss it. it might help you out forever." i've only actually met her once (she's the best friend of a good friend of mine, and both are several hundred miles from here currently) but she still insisted on doing this, and it almost made me cry

and if anyone thinks they arn't important and i don't miss them they are very wrong and i would like to hear from them soon.....

Actually, last night something like that happend to me. I was in a bad way yesterday, I had slept only an hour or so (I really would've been better off it I hadn't slept at all). I was trying desperatly to get the story that was stuck in my head out onto paper before I forgot it all. My girlfriend was mad because I didn't want to sit through the fashion show she was modling in (I had already been to three this month). I had not really eaten to speak of and I was really edgy and feeling quite strung out.

My girl somehow talked me into going out to a club, I have no clue how she made it seem like a good idea. It was obvious that I was in a bad way, so much so that within two minutes of me walking in the door my friend Steve-o was giving me the third degree about my health. The next thing I knew he was handing me redbulls and New Castles in an attempt to make me feel better. He started buying me cans of Go Fast (a Denver based energy drink like Redbull, but it tastes good and actually works) when the Redbull wasn't working. Steve-o must have dropped and least $40 bucks on me last night just trying to keep me awake and feeling somewhere close to human. It was very nice of him.

Cool thread, sweet Kyrian
Those things happen to me all the time so I try to give some of the magic and shine back too !

Last sunday i was spinning in Barcelona in a parc and this girl was doing Diabolo. She watched me spin and I watched her play but we did not talk. When she left the parc, she came to me , thanked me and handed me a tiny little shiny metal bell saying that this is for good luck and all of her friends have one and she wanted me to have it . That was so lovely i had to hug her

And yesterday evening I came home all tired cause I'd only slept 2 hours and found a lovely postcard from the man I love That felt wonderful too...

I think those little things , splashes of sunshine, kindness , silliness, happiness do matter tremendously, but the most important thing is to learn to actually *recognize* them, you know ? It can be someone catching the moon and stars for you, or some random people smiling at you on the streets... they're everywhere but some people just need to see it...

shine on

Funny thing is I'm not sure if she knows exactly how much she helps me out sometimes.

Plus I don't think I've ever said thankyou properly........

I have a good friend online who I handnt seen in a few days. We have this silly greeting that we do when we see eachother, and just seeing that appear on my screen really just brightend what was left of the day and put a smile on my face. In London one time on Clapham Common, after a particularly scary panic attack incident, this french girl i met gave me a chinese painting set (quite unexpectedly). That, coupled with the consoling hug from the wonderful girl that ran many, many miles across greater london to come and rescue me, gave me a tremendous warm fuzzy buzz. Made me feel all loved and wanted.

There's also this guy that gives me bracelets and a staff and sweeties and loads of other presents when i go out clubbing. I did him a painting one time but I feel I owe him so much.

And there's this other chap, that lives in New Zealand, he runs this website and he gave me a couple of presents (that i don't think i deserve and I still think he has me confused with someone else) as a thank you for helping out with the running of the site - I still have the original email. I'm going to put it on my wall.
I painted him a picture too. It's got a blue dragon on it. Blue is his favourite colour *looks around a bit* anyone would think it was grey though ( )

18 months ago I met this short, muscular doorman with a penchant for dressing in black who looked at me slightly suspiciously. Now I regard him as the finest spinner (except sage) I've ever seen. He says the most wonderful encouraging things to me. Makes me proud of what I do and inspires me to be a better spinner.

And finally, there is the girl who makes me grateful for every single day. Makes me happier than I've ever been before. I'm really so amazingly glad I met her and so wonderfully happy that she likes me just as much in return.

These people brighten my life and I'd like to thank them for this.

My only wish is that I can touch at least one person's life in such a way as to brighten their life for a while.

I forgot to mention that the guy that gives me bracelets etc did an amazing job of helping me during my panic attack incident. I phoned him up. He didn't say very much but he was a wonderful calming influence and he sent me an inspirational text message that really helped too.

I never thank him for what he does/how he helps. Maybe I should start......

This is the latest thing to really touch me... when you just sit back, and think... I have people who care for me, people who not only know my name(s), but know who I am... I have people to call friends. That's what is important... that's what matters... if you go through something big in your life, do you want to go alone... or would you like to share that moment with others... And Bender... I think I should really take these glasses off... I've had them on pretty much ever since...

Last week I missed my bus from Madrid to Leon and was having a major argument with the lady at the ticket window, who was yelling at me in Spanish and I couldn´t understand her. Right when I was about to break down and cry this sweetheart of a man stepped in and spoke to her on my behalf in Spanish. It took about an hour and a half because we had to wait and talk to the manager and everything, but he got me a new ticket and majorly saved my ass. Bought me a salad, too.

I´ve also had a couple of homeless people that were spare-changing give me money when I told them I didn´t have any to give them.

There is a very special person in my life, he's not my lover, but we have a very special connection. I'm so in love with the fact that no matter how long it's been since we've spoken, or how thingz are going for us, we'd drop anything instantly if the other needed help. Whether it's something major, or just in need of a hug, I know he'd get to me as soon as he could, and I'd do the same for him. And although we do, we know it's not nessessary to thank eachother.

Everyones posts so far seem to be thanking others. And Cantus' especially seems to be forgetting just how specially he is. So, here's somethng to make you all realise how special you all are as individuals.... *Dibs walks up to everyone on HoP and hands them an invisible gift...* She speaks:

"Now it is time to open your presents. Gifts of tin and glass wear out in a day and are gone. But I have a better gift for you. It is a ring for you to wear. It sparkles with a special light and cannot be taken away by anyone; it cannot be destroyed. You are the only one in all the world that can see this ring that I give you today, as I was the only one who could see it when it was mine.

Your ring gives you new power. Wearing it, you can lift yourself into the wings of all the birds that fly. You can see through their golden eyes, you can touch the wind that sweeps through their velvet feathers, you can know the joy of going way up high above the world and all it's cares. You can stay as long as you want in the sky, past the night, through sunrise, and when you feel like coming down again, your questions will have answers and your worries will have gone.

As anything that cannot be touched with the hand or seen with the eyes, your gift grows more powerful as you use it.

At first, you might use it only when you are outdoors, watching the birds with whom you fly.
But later on, if you use it well, it will work with birds you cannot see, and last of all
you'll find you'll need neither ring nor bird to fly alone above the quiet of the clouds. And when that day comes, you must give your gift to someone you know who will use it well, who can learn that the only things that matter are those made of truth and joy, and not tin and glass.

This is the last day-a-year, special time celebration that I shall be with you, learning what I have learned from our friends the birds.

I cannot go to be with you all because I am already there.
You are not little because you are already grown, playing among your lifetimes as do we all, for the fun of living.
You have no birthday because you have always lived; you were never born, and never will you die. You are not the child of the people you call mother and father, but their fellow adventurer on a bright journey to understand the things that are.

Every gift from a friend is a wish for your happiness, and so it is with this ring.

Fly free and happy beyond birthdays
and across forever, and we'll meet now and then when we wish,
in the midst of one celebratin that never can end."

There's no such place as far away - Richard Bach

Teasure your gifts. Don't ever let them go.
Dibs xxx

Can miles truly separate us from friends? If we want to be with someone we love aren't we already there? If there is someone willing to show, and there is someone willing to see; magic happens. This is whem humans are alive. This is when the wingless fly.

Thanks for the Bach, Dibs! Isn't he a beautiful writer? The trueness of his words resonates in every line, drawing you in.
I want to throw a thank-you right back at Kyrian... if you didn't go with me i probably wouldn't have met those fine people (i'm one of those who doesn't usually go up and introduce myself cause i feel like i would be intruding on someone's space).

I also want to say to everyone that you should try to be more open about telling people you appreciate them and love them, cause if you don't and then suddenly they're gone you will only regret your inaction, and all the things you never said but maybe felt.

This I learned from loss, and even though it's probably too late I want to put a thank-you and a never-ending hug out there in virtual world, where all things are possible, for Philip, who I lost on 9/11 before I got the chance to give him my heartfelt thanks for all the love and unconditional support that only a true friend can give.

I think Cantus knows Dibs, especially if Bram's where are you thread is anything to go by.

But sometimes people need to know how much they are appreciated.
C@ntus wanted everyone to see that they had helped him.

Rozi invented a hugging machine to help him you know. Charles helped him through a time when he was thinking about giving up staff because of the cruel words of another spinner. Kate and Josh and Flash made him feel wanted and needed on HOP (and in the world).
As did Cass. Bendy, Bram and Whiffle Squeek let him know that his humour is appreciated. the Mind Gap lends him money (and has a wonderful habit for delivering one liners)Pk smiles when needed. Noona bounces and smiles all the time. Ros loves him unconditionally. Sickpuppy gives him some of the sickest links the net can provide and showed him the way of chicken jesus.Kato inspires.Bender is wonderfully criptic and endlessly fun.Kinudin writes bad poems Frenzie tells him what's gonna happen in Neighbours$y and Spiral help his ego. Make him think he's sombodyCarrey and thistle say he's not a bastard in real life.mini thistle likes the peanut schquoggies (new official name).Orange bounces at him and cheers him up.DFQ writes wierd stuff that confuses him - he'll get it eventually.Bovrilmonkey doesn't say much but his presence is appreciated (and it's liquid cow)The Beard gives him (and his lady love) a room with a view when it was needed - twice in one night (not as rude as it sounds....nearly).onedizzybird gives him respite from the storm. He's painting her a picture for her new house y'knowWalking Corpse amazes him with his drug taking capacity.Lolli's cheeriness lifts himGlass let him sit on the snow leopard pelt and laughed in all the right placesMooHaaHaa walks away at the wrong momentBam Bam asks about finger spins then disapearsBec and Moon Pixie wrote the book that taught him how.mischivix noticed his name was on his hat - it has a sparkley stone on it now, we is excited.Dom, Fiery Flow- he still hasn't met either of you. Is this a good thing?Everyone who got dragged into his fire family and agreed to the terms (even those about not trying to date durbs) made him feel very happy.NYC threatened to drop pianos on him over the matter of some chickens owed.Pele helped him through the finer points of sexism in the workplace and why americans flatly refuse to spell etc correctly.Pozee and, the real life, Phule let him know that not all marines are jarheads.Malcolm supplied him with a home away from home. He's very glad of this. Especially as this home welcomes him with open arms and misses him (it seems) when he's not about.C@ntus would like everyone in the list to feel supremely hugged.
Sorry if anyone has been left out. The list will be updated when we can be bothered.
