use a tripod, or else there is no place to leave your tennis balls once they're knitted.
ask the photographer about the limits if any for your movements before you are out of frame.
use flash only once during the shot, twice for a nice vishnu-limbs effect.
vishnu has many tennic balls.

and use the slowest shutter speed possible!! you can get some awesome shots that way!!!!

not sure about the flash thing tho - i tend to avoid using a flash all together! you should be able to get the vishnu-limbs effect from a slow shutter. the light from the flames should be enough to get that!

yeah - with the limits of movements before your out of frame - thats's really important!! there's nothing more frustrating than lining up a perfect shot then having your subject twirl out of the way!! try and stay in a small area - pretend you're a mime & stuck in a box!! ubblol

have fun! biggrin

do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good to eat!

if at first you do succeed, try not to look too astonished!

smile! it confuses people!

There's a HoP article on filming and photographing fire and also do a search as this has been brought up a few times before.
