what do they call this? i was practicing turning from a foward weave to reverse last night and just kept turning. it feels like so much fun that it's got to look impressive ;]

Lights dancing off my skin as chains wrap round it.
Pain is in a little box and I'm so glad I found it.

just a continuous turn : o) add a windmill inbetween and you'll have a fountain... and don't do that for too long.. you want your poi to be spinning not your head.. ;o)))

Smile.. It confuses people..:)

Actually, there is no windmill in a fountain. A fountain is when you turn a weave, then back the way you came going high and low on the transitions. So like forward weave > turn left 180 going low > reverse weave > turn right 180 going high.

Once you get that down, do it in wall plane instead of actually turning and ya got yourself a fountain.

Let's turn those old bridges we crossed into ashes.
We'll blaze a new trail,
and torch the rough patches.

if you keep spinning youll find you can do continually turning 3, 4, 5, split rings all sorts. continually turning split rings is nice. just mind you dont get dizzy.
try doing continually turning paralell turns. turn round on the spot like 4-5 times doing any move then stop.
what move are you now doing.?
im either doing a split ring then a weave but i do sometimes come out in upwards thread the needle depending on which arm i let fall behind with the spin.

my original signature was tooo long.
this one is shorter

continuously spinning a 3 beat weave is a 3 beat circular weave.
continuously spinning a 3 beat weave with a windmill in the middle is a fountain.

I can't agree with that. I was under the impression that a fountain was Reverse weave > windmill > weave > reverse weave > windmill, all in wall plane.

er, i think i do the opposite of this. i go from fwd 3bt on my right side, do a circle bit, then go into rev 3bt on my left side, then do a wierd circly bit, and go into fwd 3bt again. Feels really cool, but the fwd to backwards bit seems to feel a lot more unco than bwd to fwd does. oh well.

You can actually throw in the extra beats on the left side, the right side, and in front of you.

Problem with continuous turning weaves is the planes. If I start doing that (which I love to do), I will inevitably wind up at some crazy angle.

If you count 3 2 3 2 and so on rather than 3 3 etc., it's much easier to keep the planes the same.

Practice doing 360 360

Done normally it isn't a very cool trick for an audience, it looks pretty dull. If you do it behind the back, people seem to like it though, if you can keep it in line, it's a nice way to emphasise the fact you're doing things behind the back so people don't miss it.
