small peice of writing from last week?

When we were fish.

When we were fish, we knew many many things. We knew who we were, and why. We knew the trembling of the underbelly of the world. We knew the earths changes, winter to spring by the currents against our fins. We knew enough to be content and still have spare.

When we were birds, we knew the fickleness of the winds. The land was something we avoided, and so we become transient, never existing beyond a state of urgency. We knew the taste of the sea, snatched in our claws as we swooped the mighty ocean. We knew the lean hard times, bare shelter in trees and constantly on the wing. We knew the fullness and emptyness that change bought.

When we became men, we forgot everything. Our very being began to exist only in a constant state of reflection. Who are we? why? and HOW? We burned with questions, and we imagined ourselves as a half of a a whole, lacking. When we became men, the earth forgot our names, and we walked over the lands, desecrating and neglecting in equal parts. We fell into the shallow bitter vanity of self, and no longer had the simple soul of animals. We had bought into our own importance, far too much.

We should have remained as fish. When we were fish, we knew who we were.
