Its been a couple of months since those two little 3ft Nesbits(sp?) where put in my hand by one tall and charming bloke (many know him as Dom;)) anyhow... until PIP they were virgins never having touched parrafin although several times having been near it.

My life has changed...
I waited till I was ready and then went ahead and lit them!

Every time I have lit an object and somehow played with it... it has given me a specific feeling. Yes, I always feel a general 'feeling' that this whole juggla comcept gives me but not once NOT ever did I feel how I felt in those flames in the park.

Anyways to cut a long story short...

It was one of the most memorable moments within fire I have ever experienced. the sheer joy of having so many wicks and being able to make them dance all around... well its AMAZING.

I would not trade the feeling in for anything else.

Does anyone else get this with doubles...!?

I got that superbuzz for the first few months, then another buzz when I actually started doing different things with the doubles...

It kinda subsided for a while, then I got my double-wick'd staffs and the noise and the flame threw me back into that stupid grinnning headpsace.

Now I need to make sure I listen to the roar and feel the heat before that headspace comes back.

Until last night, when I had my first go with a firewhip! Man, EVEN MORE FIRE THAN DOUBLES, and the danger side of it actually creeped me out, but still got that huge buzz. Wicked!

Does this mean I am slowly needing more and more fire to get my buzz???

I had the same experience a couple of years ago when I first discovered firewhip. Didn't touch my staffs for weeks. Now the firewhip is one of my primary toys -- I still can't get enough of it!

i'll move onto contact doubles if you make me a pair!

Been playing a bit and unfortunately, i think its the only way i'm gonna get that buzz again. I still looooooove my doubles but i only get phunky when i have people to brainstorm and spin with these days.

I might even come and visit again to pick em up?
Don't think you can steal my PK that easily!

I saw tempest in the Morning Coffee video I think doing doubles, and yeah. I wanna start doubles. I have double electroglo staffs, and those are fun. Just don't got the coordination yet to do it.

Gimme half a year, and enough money to make a set of double batons and I'll join the double staff group

I think you may have seen me doing doubles in the vid Kinudin but i think the fine doubles you speak of were [Josh].
Well at least if it was the fire footage with dreads anyway.

PK and Minero were too busy making a monkey out me cos i asked Rob to dance for us after the previous (not on video) night out at the arches which is a great shame we have no vid of.
"dance monkey boy dance" was all i said

So whats the verdict Rob, you wanna make me staffs so i can be just like you

Shorter staffs, used in both hands and generally twirled using your wrists. Looks good cos there's four flames, but lots of co-ordination required.

It's my world - you all just happen to live in it.

Or doubles can simply be two staffs at the same time, regardlkess of their length...

My doubles are the latter version (well, they are both singles really until both of them are picked up). All six of them are 1.4 metres long.

Shorter doubles tend to look more like baton twirling and are easier to burn yourself with.

Longer doubles are easier to do contact with, can move much faster (though it can LOOK slower).

PS Doubles are great fun!

Have to agree with Charles on this one. 2 different lengths are hard to cope with inmy experience.

But I'm just bitter cos last time i tried it one of them "bit" me on the nose

Did doubles with fire for the first time in a good many months the other day. Spunned for hours to a D&B soundtrack. I'd quite forgotten how much fun fire can be....

Got my first ever (nasty) burn though. My fault for getting complacant (sp?)

Meh

Long doubles are even more fun on a unicycle!

Problem is, it looks so damn ridiculous I keep breaking out into laughter as I wobble across the ground like a drunk monkey...

Tempest, don't feel bad. It's not you being dumb, it's Josh being weird.
Something that we who know him have realized a long time ago

BTW Josh, I've been working a lot on my contact moves lately and I have some new tricks for ya the next time we meet up (whenever that will be considering the fact that I'm now on the other side of the planet from you).

There's a number of reasons why your doubles might seem clumsy. One of the reasons is that they don't feel right, despite the fact that it looks great!

I thought I was crap at doubles until some of my friends told me it looked awesome! At that stage it felt clumsy and awkward but apparently it didn't look that way.

It did take me over a year for the 'clumsy' feeling to start to dissipate.

so maybe its not as big an issue as you think ???
