Hi!!

Some of you may remember me.... I'm flash fire and have been on long-service leave for the past 6 months or so. A long time member, moderator and once noisy contributor.

For those of you who know me, I have been undergoing a transformation of sorts over the last several months. I am growing into the person I want to be, rather than the character that situations oblige me to adopt. I have opened up spiritually and am making babysteps on my path of fulfillment.

The joy really is in the journey.

I have been seeing a naturopath for the last 4 months and have never felt better. I am vegetarian, wheat-free and dairy-free. I have cut my hip-length hair to my shoulders and shed 8kgs. I exercise daily and enjoy cooking gourmet vego food.

I made the decision to chase my dreams, rather than indulge in discontent. I am working on forgiving myself for past transgressions and living on the positive side of our spectrum. I haven't poisoned my system with synthetic joy for a long time.

I haven't picked up my fire sticks in about 6 months, but transitional periods do that to me. I have been firedancing since 1997, so the occasional 6month long break is okay I think.

anyway, enough pondering from me! Would love to hear from my HOP friends, both old and new.

kiss

Hello! Glad to hear you are developing into the person you want to be. smile

I have a question and I hope it doesn't offend you, but if you are a vegetarian, how do you get enough minerals and protein for your body?

Oh and about taking a break from spinning, its good sometimes, because you often are better at learning new tricks than before wink

hehe - no offence taken, as it's a valid question. protein comes from nuts, tempeh, tofu and other soy products. iron from green leafy's, vegies, mushrooms, tahini.

I'm not super strict vegetarian cos I eat fish regularly.

I just realised what a tosser my "developing into the person I want to be" statement sounds, but hey - it's true!

Heya!

I must admit, I have wondered that question: "flash fire... a mod? who is she?"

So, thanks, this answers my unvoiced question! I'm glad to hear about yourself, and how you're evolving into the person you want to be. I would say that I'd want to do that as well, but first I need to discover exactly what it is that I want to be. ^_^ Mind you, I'm still young, and I normally don't worry about it.

So, does this mean you'll be able to hang out at HoP more? biggrin

wow! so much love in this room!

HOP can be a tricky place - so many new members coming and going all the time. I was a bit reluctant to post cos it's been so long and HOP no longer felt like a comfort zone, but old HOP friends like the beautiful Cassandra and pounce and a great welcome from newer friends are making it a breeze!

Cass - sooooo excited that you might be coming to live in Oz! YAY

Pounce - do you know what my avatar is of? I do, but I'd like to know if anyone else does!

Hiya Flashie!

Glad to hear you're well and life's taking you where you want to be headed. Think I met you near the beginning of your changes and you had all the energy and positive attitudes you needed to power you onwards.
Trying to picture you with short hair - it's always weird to see how different people look when they go from long to short hair.

Keep being happy, and pick up those sticks sometime because you're a joy to watch - ya sassy minx! wink

Thanks Dom. good work on the admin stuff too - I told you when you were with us in Oz that you should be a mod, and now look at you. all growd up n stuff. smile

My hair looks much better - that old long hair was weighing me down. had too much ego tied into it methinks.

Thanks for the welcome back smile

Yeah - the long hair thing is kinda strange. I was letting my hair make the impact for me, rather than letting myself shine through. Acquaintences describe me as "the girl with the long hair", but they're gonna have to find some other to define me now! smile I think I was hiding underneath my hair as well, cos I had put on lots of weight and was feeling quite frumpy. Hair was good to hide the low self-esteem.

Definition of Nataraja

That will help you out with my avatar. It's the nataraja - an ancient indian diety "King of the Dance"

Long hair is great! I loved it a whole lot, but it was a lot of work to maintain (brushing knots out for 3 hours after spending hours on the dancefloor was never fun). I think I'll probably have long hair again at some point, I just didn't want to become too attached to it, reach the age of 35 and never be able to cut it short again. ken?

Well hi Flash fire, we havn't yet had the pleasure of meeting.
From the sounds of it a lot of people seem happy that you're back, so hi. wave
Wow, life changes. Sounds good, and i hope you're happy. As for the hair... I used to have hair that came down to my waist, and it is now about 1inch long...bit strange at first, but has a lot less worries about burning it with various toys! He he!
Looking forward to seeing you around. beerchug
