Posted: How do you clean the wicks on a staff? I know they will just get dirty again on the next burn, but im tired of my hands turning black when i touch the wicks.

Posted: I don't know anyone who tried to clean off the carbon once they'd done their first burn - to avoid the blackness put an old sock over each end, or if you're feeling fancy HOP make some nifty covers:

Posted: Never tried - but I'd be surprised if plain water got off much, since it's burnt hydrocarbons.
Also if your wicks are still damp you'll have trouble lighting them next time.

Posted: I just use carrier bags over my wicks to stop the dirt going every where. Rub down the metal pole with a rag or something and then just cover the kevlar.

Posted: methyl spirits or turps on a rag get a bit off but once you burn it'll never be clean as new again, and really thats not going to hurt it
