kind of thinking about heading along, wondering if theres anything else around huddersfield worth seeing? my gf will be with me but shes not a massive juggler and im not sure if i can justify spending the whole weekend there when theres plenty other places to see and her family to visit.

thoughts?

What sorts of things do you like to do? Theres plenty of evening stuff - the usual selection of clubs/cinemas etc. The theatre will be doing shows over the weekend. Various comedy nights happen, probably Thursday night if I remember right.

Daytime stuff, theres decent walks if you head out of town a little - up towards Marsden or Holmfirth. Not sure what else happens while the sun is up though!

Or you could just persuade her that 5 days of juggling is reeeeeeeeally fun... tongue2

Roll up roll up! Ticket prices for the BJC go up a teeny bit on the 9th. Until then they are the bargin price of £65!

We have had more preregistrations this time than any year in memory. Its shaping up to be a really memorable one! I've been pushing for some great spinning related stuff, we have a decent budget for the fireshow for once so don't miss it grin

Even if it is 'grim up north'

Easy on the train (via Manc or Leeds), also worth looking at the map of pre-regs and seeing if you can guess who any of them are to bug for a lift smile

We will have
- Big top
- Beer tent
- Renegade tent (I think)
- Fire area

Then theres a huge hall, a seperate large hall, a couple of smaller dance studio size rooms, an indoor catering/chillout area and all the usual stuff.

We're quite lucky with our setup in that the buildings encircle a large courtyard which attaches to the playing field. With the big top/beer tents in the courtyard there will be easy access from any area to any other (or more importantly, any area to the beer grin )

sounds amazing

how is the no smoking policy going to be policed? thats going to be fun..

Most people adhere to the smoking policy by choice anyway, I think it has become 2nd nature now really.

shrug

Though, it can sometimes depend on how late it is, and how busy the tents are.
The later, the emptier the tent is, so some people do smoke inside. Particularly if there is a good breeze through the tent.

Drinks will be reasonable. I'm having discussions with the bar crew tonight to ensure you're looking at 2.50 for a decent pint, not nearer to 3! I'd imagine there will be a basic selection of spirits but don't expect anything fancy (doubt we'll be doing cocktail jugs!)

The law in Britain states no smoking in any indoor space. However I'm a busy man, and won't have time to check up on you. I can make no guarentees for the rest of the crew, or the people around you. wink

Ta Majestik, come say hi during the event grin

I however, will be on holiday and therefore not busy at all. I'll have plenty of time available to tell people I see smoking inside to finish their smoking outside.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Thats a point, I think last year they had a carpool app. I'll bring it up at the meeting tomorrow and see what I can get arranged.

Bar is now sorted. Pints around the £2 mark, a good selection of spirits and, to my suprise, they suggested cocktails and other fancy creations!

BTW, if anyone is in a band, or has any suggestions for ones we should look at, PM me, we're getting all that sorted out in the next couple of weeks smile

the map with everyone who has pre reg'd is up but i couldnt really figure out how to work it :?

cocktails are yummy but a lot of work! might be worth finding out who will actually be running the bar, what their experience is, and what their thoughs of it are. you really need a well set up bar and some experienced staff to make cocktails work well.

and bandwise i think you should get Seven Seconds of Love, that would make me joyous beyond owning a submarine grin

The map is just a map with markers of the locations people have bought tickets from, its not interactive in any way. I managed to guess who some of them would be from the locations but there is no official car share thing yet.

Edit: I just created a carshare pool here. If you want to signup for it I'll get it advertised on the website / jugglingdb etc and hopefully we can get plenty of people sharing!

The bar is being run by a local bar's management, they do cocktails etc in their club so I can't foresee any issues smile

I'll add Seven Seconds of Love to my 'listen to' list.
