ive been glowstringing for about half a year now.
im a proud member of GS.C
i live in GA
and i took my first try at fire poi last night. i had my own idea of how i could do it. it turned out horrible.

i thought it was a good idea to light the ball in a sock poi. it was all fine untill the ball went flying out of the sock.

but the first few seconds were it was still spinning fine were amazing. i just felt so powerful and proud of myself that i was actually spinning fire.

and so i came here. i want to learn more about poi specific moves. i know a hell of alot about glowstringing but glowsticks are alot more flexible than poi are.

Any maybe some fire-safety tips too wink

Hello and welcome to HoP.

There are very few poi-specific moves, though there are more than there used to be - mostly based on throws which get tricky with glowsticks due to lack of weight.
Likewise "glowsticks are alot more flexible than poi" - oooooooo controversial wink (Unless you mean in terms of bendy-ness...) - You'll find many a person here to disagree with you on that part; mindgames, string-tricks etc are all working their way into poi, slowly admittedly but it's starting to happen smile

Welcome to HOP ubbrollsmile
Go to HOP shop and get a set of fire poi. They come with a free safety video complete with HOP ppl.

Practice stuff with them unlit rolleyes. If the kevlar hurts when it hits you make a padded/ fluffy poi head cover to protect your valuable bits and simply play, like you probably did with the glo stuff.
