I have already packed trunks, towel and ice skates.

I'd look pretty stupid wearing them at the same time though.

Well I'm going to have a nice hot bath (going to enjoy being warm while I can), then attempt to cram as much warm clothing/bedding into/onto my rucksack as I can carry without looking too much like this

Ok, I have blankets, clothes, juggling stuff, and absolutely nothing to put anything in.

NOooooo! Just realised all my suitcases and rucksacks are at my parents house in Yorkshire.

Me thinks I will be taking a small detour...

See you all there. I really can't wait. (I hope its well signposted, I have a reputation for getting lost...)

Still not got any sleep. I spent the time productively though. I have one working polar-light. I finally get to play around and see what new patterns I can make it do.

the show was awesome Guy! Amy has pictures which i'm gonna steal off her seeing as my camera lied to me about being charged mad everyone seemed to love the guy from tokyo (not even going to bother trying to spell his name) but i thought the diablo duo was awesome too -very sychronised smile oooh and the hat guy bounce
High points: the show, the people, finding the enthusiasm to practice again!
Low points: the cold and the rain (goes without saying really), not being able to practice after finding new enthusiasm to rolleyes

oh well - i'll be spinning again well before the next festival - after consideration may actually be able to go to the firegathering this year woohoo! biggrin

What a fantastic convention!!

Highs: Where to start? The main show was absolutely fantastic! Every act
was brilliant!!
The Friday show was good too... Loved the Vodka & Orange show. And Silvia
was fantastic as always.
BYJOTY was really good to watch! Although sitting on the floor all
squashed up was quite uncomfortable
PhysioMonkey's Workshop was really great, lots of good advice! Thank you!

Lows: Rain, Mud, Cold. Especially as people diverted the main muddy path
through the campsite by going past the door to my tent, thereby making a
nice mud patch outside my tent door.

Goal: Go to 2 workshops - oops... went to one. So half check.

Crush: The performers.

Bane: The rain

Was also great to see everyone again!! Fun games of Jungle Speed smile

soooo.. nearly awake enough to post a HlGCB,and i like the new, realxed rules, which allow more than one thing, so here we go:

Highs

all three shows i did in the much maligned big top. the Clock was a lot of fun to do with character for the first time, the ballons with J9 was utterly great, and a good use of the boat (and yes, i had to get my lawyer inbvolved to prove it was my boat. thanks tommy). And Vodka and Orange was my favourite episode yet. i hope the scottish accents were a good change from the italian flavour of the rest of the (fabulous) show smile
gladiators on sunday - i genuinely didn't plan the shoe thing, but it worked. mwahahahahaha.
2nd British Weeble Golf championshps on the wonderfully sunny sunday afternoon... (round of applauise for random mike *Clap* )
the sun on the aforesaid sunday :o) if it had been all week it would have made staying on asphalt more palatable.
senmaru
BKC smile
the lunch afterwards in the pub
the threestaff/club session with meg and sam very late on saturday. utterly awesome and inspiring.

i could go on and on, cause i had a LOT of highs from this one... but...

Lows
the weather (not a bane, cause i have a van....)
failing to plug PLAY very well tongue (1)
not seeing peachi and sinD enough, considering i was camped with them :o( either i drag them out of BBMC nwext year, or i learn about balloon modelling...(2)
Flame Oz not coming to do their uber-tight fireshow :o(
the much maligned big top
feeling like i was being ripped off by a certain trader taking pics of my props when i was specifically saying they had been designed by someone else and trying to get credit passed on but being totally ignored. bad form m'sieu. like the rest of your convention it would seem.

Goals

Arrive: almost didn't, but finally got there. Win!
teach good workshops: check. hybrids one was tough, but the staff juggling workshops were really well attended and i watched people who started their convention as the bane of many jugglers become accomplished letters-go.
have fun on stage: Check (see highs above). we were really not sure how V and O was going to go down....
have fun: Check. not hard, this one.
be scottish (and spend very little): check! £13 on food, £8 on beer, £2 on coffee, £9 on juggling equipment, £7 of which was given away immediately smile
leave and arrive at intended location: semifail: steeringbox went on the van frown expensive and meant i didn't arrive in notts until 11pm frown

Crush
hmmmmm. Jeanine for being so excited about the balloons and the poi, and developing a fixed grin as a result. senmaru, is there a fanclub i can join? peter arghbrergh. was really nice to see you saturday night and wanted to show you with some of the things i'd been working on but didn't get the chance :o( The Void: coffee, amusement, keeping me away from the councilestateparade/nongames, and finally a lovely kendama. you rock :o) and all the others i spent ages hanging out with: nigel, steve, simian, meg, chutney, jo, will, will, sylvia, martin (newly recrowned gold) gracie, kev, etcetc)

Banes
the poi abuse :o( i'm really, really bored of it now.
the ropes attached to my van. i hate you, you R*****T

It was great. thanks everyone who did anything at all towards making it wonderful :o)

Rob

(1): 23-27 July, shortlytobeupdatedwebsite - www.playfestival.co.uk
(2): fortunately i get to spend monday-wednesday with them, so if anything not seeing them during the convention was a high, or i'd be ready to kill them by now....

I've got a few photos here.

There should be more coming when I've got them off the card and sorted them out a bit.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
