I was just wondering what you guys mean by having a move.
Dos that mean for you: you got it got it or you got the concept.
I definitly do a big distinction between those two .
i´m a contact staffer, so i more and less speak about contact moves
Having a move takes me f..k years.
I caught me on training the same trick since three years.
And I do train nearly every day for hours an hours.
Getting the concept of somthing is sweet, playing around :
o cool i got the cont. matrix three times today.
Makes you feel good but does it bring anything (except fun)?
I decided to call a trick done
when i can do 10 Sets of 20 repitions whithout correcting, dropping, with awareness of the body!! ...
that means i nearly dont have anything
but well it keeps me working more and less freaking around
even i love too do it
what do you guys think ?

Well for me, having a move 'solid' used to mean not having to think about it, that it would just happen while I was playing.
After having to make a routine and do performances... I don't know anymore.

I can do a jesus 99 times out of 100 off my right hand but only 1 in 3 off my left.
continuous conveyor off both hands i can do without thinking... oh and off topic 3 ball cascade i can do blindfolded
so i think i have that trick
I think "having a move down" is a hard thing to pin down.
being "able to do a move" is also a bone on here somewhat I ask strugz then how many times in a row without messing then when I can do it he always ups it, cheeky bugger

A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

Maybe the more important question is, how clean does a contact stick move have to be to look impressive (meaning to a non contact stick playing audience member)?

I count myself as having a move when I can do it 20 times on a loop with no mistakes, and can transition to and from it from every other position that it is possible to do so.
I count myself as being good at a move when I can do it 60 times without error or pause, complete with error-free transitions and integrations into a routine. That applies to staff, poi, whatever...
but maybe thats just me

Er, well, from the standpoint of the most professional jugglers I know, you don't even HAVE a move unless you can do 200 throws each time you try, including on a bad day. So I suppose being 'good' at a move would be the 200 iterations while simultaneously poncing about, or without looking?

But to be fair you all i do agree slightly........ there is no specific move (families id go with) ie. a static move has a name, but its the move its come from and going too which is everchanging, meaning you can never really have a move solid......... you can only improve your flow and general control.........
