Hi,

I've been asked to introduce myself so here we go and sorry I didn't do it earlier. Originally from Belgium, living in the UK for over three years, I learned spinning in New Zealand and did my first firespin in South Africa. Best spinning experience was @ Burning Man 2002 amongst 500 others (hence the pic). I've met a lot of Hoppers recently and had much fun @ the Brizzle JC.

Hey Dragosani. We're doing fine. Just can't wait to go and see the family in Belgium but her British passport has been refused so now I'm applying for her Belgian one. Just takes a bit longer as I have to register her first with the embassy in London. (sigh)

Oh dear, I've ended up in a loophole with Indigo's identity. I gave her my surname as I'm not together with the father but he agreed to put his name on the birth certificate so it wouldn't say: "Father: Unknown".
All good so far but then...

I applied for a British passport (the dad is British and Indigo was born in UK after all). But...passport refused as I'm not married to the dad and I haven't lived in UK for five years. (I'm from Belgium.)
So, British passport refused.

Then I applied for a Belgian passport, I'm Belgian after all. Now the trouble really starts! Belgian law says that if the father is known (name on birth certificate), the child must have the father's name.

At the moment, Indigo will have a passport under a different name than on her birth certificate!

And I will have to go through a lot of hassle to get her name sorted out!

So nice to be in Belgium again after one year and introduce Indigo to my family.

And magine that when we die, we all go to our personal heaven. I know what mine would be; a Belgian supermarket (without meat of course). The chocolate, the 3kg Nutella pots (honestly), proper paprika crisps...mmmmh...

Gosh, flats are expensive in the UK. I'd like to move out of my studio as it's getting a bit too small with a baby. But one bedroom flats are so expensive. And why are two bedroom flats or even three bedroom houses not that more expensive.?
Anyone interested in sharing cause I might just end up doing that. Rent something with two or three rooms and then search a flatmate.

Wow, I am really honouring my name. Well, the tramp bit at least. So, moving again...to the Isle of Wight!!! I've been offered a very good job there teaching French and Spanish in a language college. I'm moving on Wednesday!

Bristol crew and neighbours; I'd like you to join me for dinner at Oh! Calcutta (Cheltenham Rd, near Arches) on Tuesday at 6pm. Let me know before Sunday 6pm if yes or no you'll come and if you're brining anyone so I can book the table.

After a really smooth move, Indigo and me are well settled on the Isle of Wight.

Last week Wednesday, the man with a van I had hired turned up at our Bristol home at 9.50. We left Bristol at 10.45 and we had moved into the new house by 15.15. I believe the vanman was on the 4 o'clock ferry back.
We now live in a lovely little house which has a living room and kitchen on the ground floor and a bathroom and two bedrooms on the first floor so Indigo has her own room. We also have a little garden with a backdoor giving to a path that leads to a forest. The area is quiet and peacefull, ten minutes to town and fifteen to the beach. No, I can't see the sea from the house as it's in a "dip" between two hills (so, no mobile phone range, hehe) but I see the sea everyday on my way to work.

Talking about work. The first week went very well but I'm happy it's weekend as it's been quite heavy. It's not just the work, it's being in a new place, getting back in working mode and of course getting not just myself but also Indigo ready in the mornings.
It's nice though to see that this country also has some normal kids and not just the mental cases I've "taught" in Bristol and surroundings. Lessons start at 8.30 and finish at 14.40. I teach twenty 50 minute lessons per week (three Spanish, the rest French) and spend 15 minutes everyday with my tutor group. The remaining time is used for preperations, marking, eating biscuits and chatting with other teachers having a free lesson.

And what about Indigo, I hear you think. Well, she has settled in really well too. She's sleeping through the night again and doesn't seem disturbed to sleep in a room by herself. On Mondays, she goes to the creche which is a couple of streets passed the school so I take her with me on the bicycle.
The other days, she goes to a childminder who lives just accross my street, very handy! Indigo likes both places a lot and doesn't cry when I drop her off. She is exremely cuddly though when I fetch her .

Oh yes, please come and invade! I miss my friends.

Hey Skul, I love summer but I'll miss putting Indigo her pirate pixie hat on. Still use it in the chilly mornings. A lot of people have asked me about it over the last months. Have you thought about approaching baby stores?
