If you drink, get tipsy rather than drunk. It's much more fun. because you can remember what prats everyone else was making of themselves! wink

I've never been drunk in my life, only quite badly tipsy. I have no intention of vomiting, going unconscious or losing my memory. I don't see the point... Getting giddy is good fun though.

After much consideration, I find that the view is worth the asphyxiation.

The trick is knowing when to stop. I generally find that if I can lie down without holding on then I'm still good biggrin

Na, but seriously I don't actually get that drunk anymore. I prefer to enjoy the drink and get rather merry along the way.

Could somebody stop the room please... I'd like to get off

I spewed once (twice?) and I don't intend on doing it again.

Being drunk isn't so bad, as long as you dont get stupidly drunk.

Before this thread disintegrates into "war" stories (one time, at band camp, I got so hammered I did this that and the other type stuff), I would just like to remind everyone to please keep their posts PG rated.

HOP does not condone the abuse of alcohol or the use of illicit substances.

Thanks.

The title of your thread suggests that partying and being drunk are inseparably linked. Not true!

As I've gotten older I've felt the urge to get drunk wane. This is also linked to the friends I have hung around and now hang round with (and not being in Ireland wink ).

If you're not comfortable doing something then change it. Don't feel that you have no choice in a matter....ever.....because it's not true smile

Maybe you should set a good example for your friends or find new friends confused

Good luck, don't worry so much you sound quite upset... hug

I take a different approach to all this.

because the buses dont run to my house past a certain time, im usually driving. so if you act like an idiot to the point when drunk people are saying that your wasted, its all good. that way you have the clarity of mind to help those who get to the bad point, as well as doing some spinning to give a mind trip to the people already seeing colours.

Although theres nothing wrong with getting a bit tipsy everynow and then, just enough to be a merry ol' chap!!

You just have to realize what your tolerance is at, and keep it in mind when you get to drinking. If alcohol is slow to affect you, then drink slowly, or intersperse some non-alcoholic libations with your spirits. That way you aren't feeling the effects of your first drink when you are already halfway through your third. Not only that, but nursing your beverage also helps keep the costs down when you are at the club. I know this as a fact, as soldiers are usually broke.......LMAO.

Firstly, you are my mortal enemy, a *wretch* scientist. But im enjoying the love/hate thing weve currently got going on.

Secondly, that is your opinion on Tracy Emin. Personally, seeing as her work is all about her, i find it dull sometimes too. The way she expresses herself is marvellous though. And the fact she gets absolutely wasted on Tv and rips apart critics is thoroughly amazing!!

Thirdly, those words are also mine!!! wink

But to bring this back to alcohol......GETTING pissed is the most enjoyable feeling for me. BEING drunk, to the point of sickness is not. Booze is my drug of choice. You know where you are with it. With other illicit substances you never know for certain how its going to effect you- whether ruining your mind or body, or both. You know one pint isnt going to kill you, whether one pill or line etc might.

I have no idea how people let themselves get to the state where there puking up all the time, and cant remember sh*t in the morning. I get drunk all the time, and neither of these effect me. Theres a difference between being drunk and being paraletic.

But hey, i just love booze.

Cheers everyone!! beerchug

I'd rather have a big bowl of my mommys home made mash spuds watching drop dead fread, with my pet dog travis!

Or just after you've fallen over because at that point you lack the energy/effort/coordination to reach your drink.

I've realised that as a teenager, drink was something I did to get over being shy. I guess it worked in a way but it also got me into some situations that, I look back at now and, thank my lucky stars I got out of.

I guess I got older and wiser and found out I could have fun and be myself without getting drunk. I learned that drinking may have lowered my inhibitions but it also lowered my ability to judge when I was safe or not and lowered my control of situations. I decided to learn to lower my inhibitions without the alcohol and now I'm just high on life, and if I do bother to drink alcohol, I do it in moderation, get a little bit tipsy and then stop.

I'm guessing most people that have met me from HoP are glad I don't get bladdered, because I'm loud and lairy enough without being drunk.

I'm open, silly and fairly mental without booze, though I've heard from a brilliant source that drunkness is hell fun if done right, so I'll yet try it. I surely don't need it to lower my inhibitions. The first time I get drunk I'm going to be in large and trustworthy conpany in case it take it badly I think. smile
