were they home made sock poi or did you buy your first pair?
I cut the legs off my 4yr old's stripey pink cotton tights. they work brilliantly.
what? she'd grown out of them! Well she would have soon, haha

thats it. my first poi have officially lasted me 2 weeks.and now i've broken them.
gutted - shop bought hackysack styley with tails - only a fiver though. so cant complain. now what do i practice with?

my first poi i made. i made them out of hemp rope, some corderoy i cut out of an old pair of pants and pinto beans. later i added some tails made of some polyester material i found in a thrift store.

Mine were material bags filled with gravel attached to nylon rope, the gravel bags hurt but make you learn quicker... :-)

2 tennis balls attached with string. Made them pretty when I added ribbon tails! They were crap. Bought new ones from HOP asap.

I bought a set of fire poi to start with. One of my friends uses some store bought practice poi but I find them too light.

heh, I was such a noob when I made my first set of poi. Led fishing weights on the end of some fishing line that i wrapped around my fingers and tried to spin really fast. Gave bad bruises and would wrap around my arms and nearly cut me. Im sooo glad to now have sockpoi. I love em

A pair of home made tenis ball poi my cousin gave me were my first ones. but the strings were too short (i had never noticed she had really short arms before!) So i brought pink fluffy ones from HOP! YAY! But i have noticed poi are addictive... i now have 4 pairs - opps!

My first set were a pair of monkey fists I tied out of some cotton sash cord - same weight and drag as the fire set I then made out of kevlar wicking.
Yellow and blue make green.
