also, tidings. My name's Laura. I've been spinning poi for the past couple of months as practice before I get me hands on a set to light on fire. I got turned on to the idea when a friend of mine commissioned a chainmaille shirt to use, since it's not about to catch on fire. I'm looking to learn fire spinning/eating/breathing from a person instead of a tutorial, so if anyone in the DC Metro area feels like taking on an apprentice please let me know.

I've noticed some people on the site have gone the RenFest route. Is anyone out here affiliated with the SCA?

welcome to HoP!

I think another Hopper: Sparkey is from the same town.

I wouldn't recommend spinning fire in chainmaille. For one, it's bulky and restricts your movement, and two, if you heat up the links, they will give you nasty burns! Cotton clothes are a better choice. I'm not officially an SCA member but I do dabble in armor construction and other geeky stuff smile

Hello, welcome to HOP!

My state of mind is not yours to define!

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
