i love how so many people these days are a total mix of cultures!

for now, i'm spinning the (currently very dirty) sock poi that my friend kristy and i made. in a few weeks (hopefully sooner), i'll have a set of yeti poi to play with. i bought them sight unseen, so have no idea how they feel -- but they looked so fun i couldn't resist. weavesmiley

Heya tina! Sorry this must be so late.. I actually mentioned what happened with me and Baraka in another thread. Actually, I did find Baraka! Watched half of it, then suddenly the disc refused to read frown Was so disappointed I didn't get to see all of it.

I like what I saw though. Some amazing footage. I particularly enjoyed seeing the tribal people in the forest doing the ritual with the hands, thought it was really interesting! Don't know when I'll get to see the rest of it though..

How've you been? hug

Always happy to hear from you even though it sometimes takes a little while - mine or yours doesnt matter. biggrin

hey, although youve just seen half of it - better than nothing....and I like the fact that you at least liked as much as youve seen!
Now the shame is with me: I havent found travelling birds yet, but gonna check the shop out later!

Apart from all that film stuff: I'm fine bounce
I'm in the last few terms of my studies and mainly have to prepare my final exams, even though I still have spare time left and can take it easy.....at least....

Heya! smile

Don't worry too much about Travelling Birds- it was watchable and rather interesting, but isn't something to worth stressing about! And shame? Don't be silly tongue

When are your final exams? Sounds like you're on top of it all though- with time to post on HoP and all wink

Congrats on your new poi move! I'm kinda stuck these days- but have recently been inspired. Just need to find a way to translate that into some kind of tangible product... ubblol ..other than singed hair..

All's well though! hug

Heeeeeeellllloooo!

When I start my final exams depends on me. Somewhen this year after Ive met the artist Im gonna write about I will sign in and then I have about half a year for my written stuff, about 100 pages to an art theme of my choice, after that six more tests, three more written ones and three verbal ones.....and then somewhen next year I should be an official history of art whatever....! biggrin

How or whom by have you been inspired, cause Ive been inspired too.???!
About three months ago, that was the time when I definitely swopped from staff to poiiiiiiiiiiiiiii......even though at performances I still play with the staff, when needed, otherwise poi, poi, poi. ubblove
....since my inspiration everything works, even the flow of my poi spinning... rolleyes

hope you're still fine wink and youve got hair left hehe

Im off to a wedding of a friend of mine where I'll play poi with another friend of mine, a mixture of staff, double staff, poi and partner figures with single staff.....and later that night even in a club here in frankfurt with led.....

nice weekend to you

Ola tina!

Art history's quite fascinating. What kind of ambitions have you got for the future?

When I was in the uk, I saw the funniest skit on Dead Ringers- this guy was in an art gallery, talking to some random stranger about a painting on the wall- he was talking in the most authoritative way about the painting, then suddenly began talking about silly things to see what he could get the person to believe. Eventually he was describing how the paint on the wall.. e.g. no. 46 on the Dulux colour chart further complements the painting. Thought it was side-splitting! Towards the end an old lady even came up to him despite the nonsense he was making up, and said, "you describe it so beautifully! Are you a poet?" ubblol

Inspiration.. I suppose it comes from everywhere really.. anything from a photograph, to a piece of writing, to the way people are. There's so much to be inspired by if you're in the right mindset ubblove

Hair.. lol! The flames on those snakes are pretty hair unfriendly. Got some left, thankfully. But then again- smileys haven't got any hair, yet they're pretty cute. Reminds me.. I probably need a haircut soon anyway..

Sounds like your weekend's going wonderfully! Mine's alright if not for some terribly annoying group work at uni.. Oh well..

Oi Ry!

My ambitions for my (art-) future are: 1. working in the art trade, means for me: doesnt matta if gallery or museum of modern art...... 2. improve my own artistic skills and sell even more of my own stuff as well as to tell the world how important cultural stuff is and support the art world somehow, try to realise different projects, from performances to exhibitons.... 3. going into the media, journalistical stuff as I work at a TV/radio station since five years...

yes I would prefer the arty stuff, but we'll see what happens, anyway at the moment I'm still thinking of applying in london, zürich, new york and germany....we'll see....

...and what do you study or do most of your time at the university??

..........and my weekend was wonderfully, nice, exciting, sexy, a bit exhausting for my legs from all the dancing, but wicked...ubbrollsmile bounce

what about yours?...... either your rest hair, your terribly annoying group work at uni, your firedancing, your lovelife, your mood,.....??? confused wink

hug

Sounds like you've got in planned out nicely! The thought of packing your bags to make a living in a new country- just the thought of it is thrilling smile. What kind of art do you do? You mention performances?

At uni at the moment things are a bit busy. This semester I've got drawing (fun but very labour intensive), 3D animation (difficult and ridiculously time consuming), and Media Business.. I've only got 3 units (instead of the usual 4) this semester, but for some reason it feels like I've got more work than before.. shrug

My weekend? Nothing really exciting- have been trying to be good and catch up with my uni stuff. Didn't get a chance to spin much, other than socks when I procrastinate at home.. Spinning at home's a bit of a constraint though- I'm trying to learn flowers, but the ceiling's low ubblol

Lovelife? Nah- none of that at the moment.. Noone wants me! wink

Have a good week ahead won't ya! hug

Forget the avatar - fix it somewhen else...

I try to do my best to have a good week, you too I hope!?

sleep well - sweet dreams...

and talk to you soon.......

Apart from performances - in different variations - I do and love photography (Photoinstallations as well - my last work hangs above my bed around the corner), rarely, but with love sculptures out of soft stone, some kind of drawings - life drawing preferred - and paintings, but more drawings.....
