So here I am again. It's been a while hasn't it. My alto sax initially got a lot of use. Funny isn't it, how a fulltime job takes away all your spare time. Haven't had any time to poi too, apart from Jugglejam on Mondays and the monthly Moonfests. And even then, it somehow seems I tend to play with the stockwhip instead of poi shrug

Another lens has been added to the stable too. A Canon EF-S 10-22 3.5-4.5.. nice and wiide. But it all boils back down to that time issue. Despite having the new lens, I seem to find I'm out taking less pictures.. the folio hasn't been updated in a while, and I'm starting to get the horrible feeling I'm stagnating. Must. Get out of this rut.

If you're my muse and reading this, inspiration needed now. hug

-Edited 14 Dec 2005-

I liken this to opening the fridge to find that jar of misc what's it, several months expired ubblol. Hey how's it going? wave

So what's new! Well.. poi's getting a bit better for one thing. Nice how after poi-ing for a while, you stop hitting yourself senseless. In fact, one might argue how after a certain point, each hit puts more sense into you.. wink Haven't gone skating or rockclimbing in a bit, but that's ok- life's full of wonderful distractions, and really, you can only do a couple at a time.

University's just wrapped up! Yep. A degree in art & visual culture, television & digital media.. Just waiting for a piece of paper at the moment (yay!). And trying to sort out how Australia will let me live here forever and ever biggrin. Have I mentioned how wonderful it is, you so ought to visit *nudge* wink Also been getting out the with photography and stuff- a couple of projects to follow up on, blue skies and puffy clouds as far as I can see.

Updates updates. [insert geek] I've updated my camera gear too.. my 20D, 17-85 4-5.6 IS and 580EX now have a 70-200 2.8L IS to play with.. soon too, riding on getting a particular gig, either a 350D and a 24-105 f4 IS, or another 20D.. -grin- [/end geek]

[edit 14/12/05: Gig didn't go through, and ended up performing at it instead of shooting it ubblol Life has a funny way of messing you about doesn't it.. so no 2nd body for me just yet, or nice 24-105 f4 IS redface]

Been taking lots of photos lately. I think there's something intrinsically beautiful in capturing moments- you know how you look at a photo and it brings you back to where you were that day, who you were with, how the air smelt even.. Maybe one day I'll get to exhibit ubblove.. but yeah.. lots of work to be done meantime.

Hmmmm.. yes the world's beautiful today. It's good to have new toys, new moves, new direction.. old friends hug.. a best friend hug2, and enough distractions not to get bored for too long.

Btw.. favourite words haven't changed.. ubbrollsmile And mm.. I'm still not too close to balletic, and dulcet..

Hmm.. la la la laaa squawk.. footinmouth

[edit 14/12/05: I now have a beautiful alto saxophone- the best use of which I have thus far found, is to attract ducks and other misc waterfowl]

Yep, how about we say still aspiring. biggrin

Hope all's well with everyone- don't be strangers now! hug biggrin

I've been exploring this site a bit lately, and have decided everyone seems like a nice bunch- thought it's about time I said hello. Ryan, 24, born in Singapore, but Brisbane Australia has been home to me for the past 3 years.

I love photography, playing the guitar (if one took a picture of me with my guitar, it looks like I'm playing it- does that count?), getting from point A to B on my trusty mountain bike, inline skating and hockey, occasionally rockclimbing, and just being in good company. I'd also like to add poiing to the list when I stop hitting myself senseless.

Irrelevantly, my two favourite words (I've got heaps if anyone's interested) are 'balletic' and 'dulcet'. 'Balletic', unfortunately, isn't a word I'd use to describe anything I can do, and 'dulcet' is a word I haven't dreamt of aspiring towards yet.

Enough for now, don't be strangers! biggrin

Valura...I know how you feel my ex was like that...

He used to leave half eaten stuff on the floor for weeks on end...

I went away to look after someones house for five days (I cleaned the house before I left) when I came back every single dish, cutlery piece, pot, pan, casserole dish, glass etc etc was festering in the sink or on the kitchen benches...

Very much with you on this one Fi.. I'd blame it on upbringing primarily. If a kid's used to someone cleaning up after him/her, he/she will probably learn that that's the way things are.

I think some people just never wake up and realise 'well, hey, I'm my own person now and that mess represents me'.

*of course, by 'mess', I'm more referring to a hygiene sort of issue, instead of 'a place for everything and everything in its place'. Used dishes unwashed for days on end, festering in a sink.. I find particularly abhorrent.. mad2

Hey Ry you popped into my Intro ages ago and said hi and like the non net person I am i never returned the favour so I'm popping in to say hi

Well anyway Ry cheers for saying Hi

Hiya mill! Yes, I have been known to do that from time to time, popping into intro pages and saying hi.. I suppose it's part of giving back some of the niceness I got when this thread was on post 1.

Although, if memory serves me right, it was somewhat hijacked (no problems though! I love hijackings.. my insurance company states it's $1500 every hour I'm in the situation! Says something about it being in an airplane too- will have to call to clarify) so that Birgit and Molly could discuss bacteria and flies and stuff.. confused

But anyway, it seems to have evolved since then.. people were talking about ibis, and now we're on to monkeys. Go Darwin! ubbrollsmile

Btw, Gnor's got the BEST menagerie of them all. ubblol

Anyway. Not that I'm being sentimental or anything, but just a hug to all you wonderful threadwarming types. You know who you are. wink

and thats a problem how?? wink

I have this discussion with my boys. They say its their space so they have a right to have it how they choose. Hypocrite that I am I make them clean it up still. For the reason you say in that if they choose to live in a clean way at a later date then they hopefully will have the skills. On the other hand Im hoping my kids have good immune systems from lack of use of serious chemical cleaners and constant immune challenge through outside play in the dirt.

My house is always chaotic but we also have a huge collection of stuff.

off to ask Bovril whose house is most chaotic

ubblol I like how there's always a good flipside. But yes.. physical mess is one thing, but biological mess.. mm.. Though I suppose if you left it in the sink long enough, the organic stuff would compost away, dry up, disintegrate into dust, and blow away.. rolleyes

I'm not sure I can make a call on that one, since I rather quickly added my own mess to both houses, you'd need someone truly impartial I think smile tongue

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

Looks like he either doesnt want to offend us both Valura biggrin or its a dead heat. What do you think? wink

So we need someone who has been to both places....your having a baby incredibly soon and that adds extra chaos and excitement for a while.

Helpful hint time. When someone offers help make sure you have a washing machine full of clothes to hang out or better still get them to load the machine and hang it out before they leave. I have it in my head that you are having a caeser (??) so washing can be an issue wih lifting and small wee ones produce amazing amounts of washing.
Hint number two, when breastfeeding get the glass of water before you sit down.

ponders why Im giving breast feeding tips in Rys thread..meh

Abstract
Sodalis glossinidius is known exclusively in endosymbiosis with tsetse flies (Genus: Glossina ) and is one of the few insect bacterial symbionts that have been successfully cultured in vitro. This study details improved isolation and solid culture protocols that allow for a standardised and rapid preparation/maintenance of clonal material from individual flies. The isolation and culture of S. glossinidius was confirmed by partial sequencing of the 16S rDNA gene and specific PCR. In addition, the growth dynamics and changes in cell viability during liquid culture are described. The potential for culture of other endosymbiont taxa is discussed.

you know what you could do with Ry, an Axolotl. I think they're rather cool actually, i find them a bit intriguing.

ax·o·lotl
n.
Any of several salamanders (genus Ambystoma) native to Mexico and the western United States that, unlike most amphibians, often retain their external gills and become sexually mature without undergoing metamorphosis.

though, you know.. you shouldn't really leave them home alone while you go away for the weekend. they have a tendency to invite friends over, and get up to things they shouldn't ubblol
