Props to the veganism, it's hard work! My girlfriend is veggie (has been since she was around 4yo) and had to move onto a vegan diet cuz she found she was alergic to dairy products. It was a really tough thing to do but she seems to be coping quite well.

I know it's a bit of a drive but you should get down to edinbrough sometime, some very nice people with lots of skills to play and learn with.

And your taste in books and music is exemplorary I like your name too, where does Mhairi come from?

what a brilliant welcome from you all! These boards seem pretty friendly!
In reply to some of yer comments:

As a field ecologist I have been studying soil ecology, which is soo interesting- like I've always been into plants and animals and beasties and habitats/micro habitats but under ground ecology is fascinating! Now I'm doing some plant physiology and insect stuff which is great fun!

Being vegan can be a bit of work but I love cooking for myself + friends. Washing and chopping and cooking veggies and ending up with a gorgeous + healthy dish is heaven!! I love it!

Also, Dunc, I often go down to Edinburgh to different punk gigs/festivals! I used to live down there too! I've met up wi some folk who do poi but that's about it. My old band played a gig at this protest site in Bilston woods (action to stop this biotech company chopping down this ancient forest for a more direct road to there site!) which was ace and some of us did poi and diablo for extra amusement!

The Name Mhairi is Scottish Gaelic and should be pronounced
V-arry (you see?) but I have always been called M-arry. It's something to do with talking to me Vs talking about me!

OK, last bit of news: I'm going out to the beach now with my sister- She is just back from living in Japan for the past couple of years and has come home with my new neice!! Hannah Skye who was just weighed yesterday at 10pounds 8oz!! She is a wee stunner- world look out!!
