i am putting this in the intros as a way to re-introduce myself as i felt my first time was a bit pants and i lost the thread and, well it was just a bad effort... anyway this is where i am going to keep those interested informed as to my travels for the next 6 months and where i get to spin, who i meet and what i get up to in general.

so firstly to do the whole intro thing again for those i do not have the pleasure of knowing yet...

hello! wave
i am...

eleanor.
age 23
from london. but currently travelling round australia having just zipped round japan, then in a few months onto new zealand, then fiji and then north america.
fave film - the lost boys
fave animal - penguin

oh blah blah that will do for now! biggrin biggrin biggrin

SO............... ubbloco

The Adventure began in Toyama, Japan. The snow was up to my knees and yes I have photographic evidence of me spinning poi in snow this deep which I will post here as soon as I get to a computer able to cope with this (in other words - as soon as I find anyone more capable of using a computer to do it for me ubblol)

I went to Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and Tokyo following this, the most interesting things occuring being:

* getting lost absolutely every single day, usually for hours, but not really caring as it's a good way to see random back ends of cities.. ahem, that's my story and i will stick to it until the end... ubbangel

* making 'friends' in osaka with a japanese boy who followed me all round the zoo but got so annoyed at me for spending over 30 mins with the penguins, and still wouldn't leave me alone for ages even though we couldn't understand a word the other was saying.

* the weird weird tunes that the crossings play in kyoto when the green man (complete with top hat an pointy shoes, tee hee) comes on to tell you it is safe to cross. so bizarre.

* a ride called 'the 13 doors' at a theme park in tokyo which literally scared the [censored] out of me like nothing before. you get a key and have to wander round in the dark tripping over bodies on the ground, having things scream in your ear etc, and open doors with this key when you find them. urrrgh, such a freaky thing. even the 'kiddie' haunted house was enough to give me nightmares.

* going to see belle and sebastian in tokyo after sitting next to one of the band on the plane from london and making friends with them... this was fun and very strange, as going to shows in other countries often can be. guestlist place did mean front row seat of the balcony which was nice, and i hadn't anywhere to stay that night so a very nice american girl i met there let me share her (very nice) hotel room ubblove

the brain is tired so that is all i can think of for now.

NOW in mandurah, near perth, australia. it's SO warm. hurrah! biggrin had a quick spin in my friend's car park today and made a new friend who was fascinated by it which was cool. and going to stay with Gnor this weekend, cannot wait!!!! ubbrollsmile

that'll be all for now. i'll write again when there is more to tell, whenever that shall be. thanks to everyone who has sent me pms since i have left, it is so nice knowing you are still all out there to chat to. bye! hug kiss hug

ta-da! oh, i was going to post a pic of me and gnor on her rock but i realised i don't know how to, haha! we took lots biggrin it is a fine rock indeed. it's so exciting to be here! in my slightly hungover state from last night's craziness i am completely hyper and can't seem to concentrate on anything for babbling to gnor about all sorts of stuff.

spitfire, yes i did get your pm. will reply - are we all still chatting tonight (tomorrow morning for us)?! Mand suggested after your show. oh, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAND if you read this. anyway, that would be cool and after lunch for us, which i think we can do. going to medieval practice in the morning, very excited ubbrollsmile hope the show goes well sweetie.

simon - thanks for the hug via gnor, much appreciated.

flid - i have told gnor to talk to you about dreams! hope that's cool - trust me you will be very interested in what she has to say..

So an update maybe? what have i been doing? i STILL ache from tuesday's water-fest, and hangover on top of that doesn't help. I was terrible last night, I found it hysterical that loads of aussies drink these midi glasses of beer, like half pints i think, so i was all "i'll show you all how to drink properly" and was getting through my pints like i was ford prefect on the day the world blows up. oopsie.

I had lunch with my friend's grandparents today (awe, they were very sweet) and they said i had an american accent. gnor says i have a crossbread sorta thing going on - what's this about i wonder?!

gnor has the prettiest flags i have ever seen, all lovely and sparkly in the sun.
the sun! there is so much of it here. lovely lovely. ubblove

so pictures of me doing poi in interesting places, and of me and gnor on her rock are actually on the computer now so i will get them here hopefully when bill gets back cos i think he is more technologically minded than us girls. we have been like "why is flid not online when you need him?!" ubblol and if we still can't fathom it out then will put them somewhere in the gallery. which is probably what i should do anyway... blah blah, i will work something out.

it is mega exciting to be back in the realms of broadband internet at gnor's place so i may well be online a fair bit the next few days... and she has 2 computers so we can sit next to each other and play on hop together, tis all very excellent.

i shall return. bump into some of you in chat soon, i hope. flid + mand, that day i chatted to you in tokyo when i was lost with nowhere to go was the coolest thing ever, i can't tell you how much that lifted my day, i was grinning like a maniac for hours.

oh and kit (knew there was something else to say!) yeah belle and sebastian was a great show, and i met loads of insanely huge fans that were very jealous of my plane story too. i played a couple of them at onboard trivia -which is the coolest thing ever- and even beat charlie (the one i sat next to.. he violin/viola player) once, so i am not as stupid as i look, maybe?!

In fact whilst on the subject of planes, what on earth has happened to all the entertainment systems in the last few months? they are all incredible now... you can surf the web, send texts to the ground, watch one of 50+ videos, listen to cds, play other people on the plane at chess or trivia or one of 8 pokemon games... ubbloco

i am actually going now. i shall be lurking around though, oh yes.

love from eleanor, rock, gargoyle and gnor tongue

I just got back from the coolest night of my trip so far..........

8 of us spun fire, *dressed in full armour*, inside this amazing huge old railway tunnel in the middle of the bush. biggrin
It was just so much fun and I am frustrated that I can't think of the words to express what a great a fantastic time we all had... this time tomorrow I should have the photos to post from the event (flid - i need to book you to be online in 24 hours' time, that cool?! tongue)

AND on the walk back through the bush I saw a wild kangaroo for the first time.. ubblove woo! And we heard dropbears and got scared eek tee hee

Today has been busy and fun - i met loads of gnor's friends who are all lovely, had a BBQ with lots of spinning in her back garden with everyone, youngest poi kid being aged 5, aww.

I just have to say once more ubblove kiss ubblove *thank you gnor* ubblove kiss ubblove for such a fabulous day+evening.

Tomorrow is the Fremantle gathering which I am so looking forward to weavesmiley

It has been one mighty armour-clad-poi-spinning day and I am happily exhausted. phew!
