Months after the death of my poor dearest little miss, I still have a rat cage sittng on my front doorstep. Finally I decded to get myself some new furry little frends to fill the cage. My problem now is... what on earth do I name them.
I have decided to get 2 this time to keep each other company, so hence searchng for two names. I will be getting my rats at the end of the week and need a name before then.

Any suggestions?

Dont settle on a name til you meet them...

But how about

Clancey and Winfred?

I like names that make people go "... ... oh... erm.. ok then. :)"

I liked Durbs' suggestion, except I would probably let people discover the R for Rat 'coincidence' on their own and let them think it was their own clever joke. smile

I agree with this. I had a rat named Cheddar though and later on got another and named it CJ.

I love finding names that mean something...

I'd either call them a name that includes Rat in it...
i.e.
Cratus - Greek - Strength
Efrata - Hebrew - Honoured

Or find names that mean something like rat...
Alyssa - RATional
Lalawethika - Native America - RATtle sound

Or after famous Rats?
Templeton is the name of the rat in Charlottes web.
Scabbers of HP fame?
Splinter? - TMNT

Or Rat in a different language?
Indonesian - Tikus
Swedish - Tjalla
Rizzo - Muppets

Please, DONT call either of them splinter. That's just silly.

I would like to second the Terry and June nomination.

I got caught up with the excitement of my childhood, I no longer back that name.

I think you should name in a way that makes the most sense to you.

But if I were naming two pet gibbons I would name them Micky and Peter. After two of the monkees.

My mate's trying to find a name for her two new rats too (to go with Reepicheep, the existing rat)- I think I've talked her into Slartibartfast for one, but that still leaves one little ginger female ratty.. Any spare inspiration?

Edit: why I am I doing this?I keep forgetting she's registered on here herself, Jo, ask for yer own rat names.. tongue2

Actually, I think I will help myself to your laptop....

You could be my earthling diplomatic representative here, and hence have a reason to get rat names for me....?

Dirk- rocking name. Doesn't suit her too well, though. Maybe I should start naming them all after Red Dwarf characters again....

Though why on earth anyone would decide to name a rat after the 'mythical father of Olwyn' is anyone's guess.

There is also this this

whips and chains... LOL!! that is fantastic. I'm thinking i will settle on scotch and bailey. unfortunatly i still cannot fnd any rats!! i have looked in the RSPCA after the animal shelter suggestion, no luck there. and called up countless petstores hunting.

its getting depressing havng an empty rat cage on my desk.

I'm willing to bet most people don't return rats to a shelter.

Probably kill them or let them loose.
