Im just starting out - so im no where near good enough to do fire poi. I just practice and maybe ill get the glow poi soon as its safer for a newbie.

One day ill light my wicks - but till then, i will practice as much as i can. Would be nice to practice with others. Im in the Milnerton area though - rather far from the strand.

Hold strong on the marmite. I bought some today in preparation for the possinilty of the good Doc visiting. wink

You can put covers on your firepoi to make them look funky and protect the heads from stuff. You can simply put small socks on them, or wrap them or make little covers out of anything. Furr looks funky as does sequins.

Ah thanks. I didnt think of that. I got the practice one as well with the tails - but ill make little covers (furry ones sound cool) for the wicks. ubbrollsmile

Wick covers are good for once you light your wicks up. Especially if you use smelly icky kero/parafin which makes your wicks all sooty ans smelly.

I've never thought about covering my fire wicks. They are constantly on a soak so that they are ready to go at a moments notice.

Gidg,

How often do you perform or practice? Sounds like very often if you constantly keep your wicks ready? sunny

Actually it's not that often at all, we are in winter and I hate spinning in the cold. The reason they are always ready is that I have a total of eight non-fire poi. There's really no reason to use the fire wicks unless I'm actually spinning fire.
