City: born in Brandon, have lived in various Canadian cities including Vancouver, Halifax, Charlottetown, and Ottawa, currently reside in Winnipeg
DOB: October 27, 1966
Age and gender: You figure it out based on my name and DOB
Occupation: a series of academic odd jobs that don't quite add up to a meaningful career....
Hobbies: too many to count! I just plain like making things, from clothing to dance props to household gadgets. I am intrigued by the monkey's fist poi and other poi made by knotting Kevlar wick. Fancy knotwork is one of my favourite hobbies. I also love to dance, even though I'm not a "natural" at it and have to work harder than most people to catch on to new moves.
Favourite animal: badger (you may have already guessed that)
Poi-related hopes and goals: to meet a few local people to practice with, to get to know people who are interested in experimenting with different types of props and maybe even inventing something new
General "philosophy" of life: You **can** teach an old dog new tricks. Someone who does not continue learning (and **wanting** to learn) new things throughout his/her life might as well be dead.

Hey, Brenn, FireTom, and georgemc - thanks for reading my intro and welcoming me to this forum! I plan on reading other people's intros soon (very soon), I promise....
I noticed that at least two of you three are from the southern half of our fine planet - I hope to make it down (up? out?)
there one of these days. I've always wanted to see stars I've never seen before, the Magellanic clouds, and the moon from a funny (well, funny-to-me) angle.
