All of a sudden i've become interested in this subject. How many different blood types are there? I know the basics, like A, B, AB, O, pos/neg. Is that all? Which one(s) is common? What ones are rare? Do you know what blood type you are?
I don't know what blood type I am. I'm going to donate blood soon, (I had to wait 12 months after getting a tattoo), so then I'll find out. For some reason I'm really eager to find out...I'd love to have a blood type no one has ever encountered something like blood type KW8-
*shrugs* lol I don't know..All things are beautiful if we take the time to look.

I don't know what blood type I am but doctors are always telling me it is rare and wish I had more weight on me so they could take my blood from me....hehehe
I also have high iron too so my blood is good...

i'm O- but can't give blood coz I had glandular fever 10 years ago. It bugs me that they make you feel guilty about not giving blood when a lot of people can't.
A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

Im O too, wasnt aloud to give blood for 10 years because I had yellow jaundice when I was 10, then I couldn't give blood because I got a tattoo. I was able to give blood once in South Africa, and now that I'm in the UK they wont take my blood anyway because I'm 'high risk' for all of the above.
Can't say I didn't try!

I have O +, i think it's the most common. I donated blood the other day. Now i'm looking into being a Bone Marrow Donor.

O+, but can't give blood for several more years because of having a yellow feaver shot a couple years ago.

I have no idea what blood type I am but i can't give blood because i'm anniemic(sp?).
My boyfriend's blood is super rare, he gets regular phone calls from the blood bank people to remind him to donate often because they want his blood so much!

i'm B+ i give blood regularly and have abstained from all piercings and tattoos, even tho i love them so, so i can donate every 4 months, which is the most anyone can, in england anyway.
Aim high and you'll know your limits, aim low and you'll never know how high you could have climbed.

I really have no idea, although I would greatly like to know so that I can donate...(and , well it's never a bad idea to know what your blood type is in case of an emergency!)...On a side note, they just eased the "tattoo/piercing" restriction here in the states, in an effort to encourage more people to donate blood...yay.

you can donate without knowing, thats how i found out what i was, i like being o, it means my blood can be given to almost anyone, o- is best tho ANYONE can have that.
its all down to the ribosomes.
i was really annoyed when i had to wait 6months to give blood just coz i got my ears pierced tho.

You could always go to the doctor and ask for a type and screen so that you can put it on the back of your license.

AB+ , one of the rarer ones...like me!
My dad is AB- , the rarest. The blood bank offers him money for his blood, but he doesn't part with it ever. My mom is O+ , which is why I am adopted.
I am not allowed to donate for being anemic, and the whole tattoo thing.

i think its silly to give your blood away.
people who give blood are often already lacking in blood as it is. think having a biscuit'll fill you full of blood? nopey.

its very nice and helpful, yes, im not disputing that. just saying that the majority of ppl that give blood should be the ones receiving it.

i donate when i can, A+ is my blood type. The ladies from the blood bank ring me up as i'm a very healthy person who can spare a bit of blood, plus, i'd like people to give me blood if i need it. Yeah, it may run some people down a little when they donate, but its a life saver in the end. To me saving a life is worth more than feeling down for a couple hours.
I've had cases of glandular fever and they still take my blood.

I would like to join the A Negative club! I give blood as much as poss, I have no tats or piercings, and I have given 15 times in my life so far. I only do it for the free tea...

i have o type blood. o negative.
and whats cool is i went to the doctor to get my blood type etc n they made a little laminated card to pput in my wallet with all the info on it!! never had to use it but handy i thought.....

I want to be the rarest! I'm going to book in to give blood now I think. My 12 month waiting period after getting my tattoo is just about over.
Actually...being the rarest probably isn't that good...because the majority of people who are going to need the blood will need the common blood types!
