despite vowing to myself that i wouldnt allow it to happen again.... it has.

once again ive pushed myself too hard, and have crashed in a heap.

i love keeping busy - with uni, work, circussy stuff, friends, food, books, running camps for kids, art etc. but seem to have this habit of doing too much and then fizzling out to the point of zero motivation.

im not trawling for hugs or sympathy, because i know that all it takes is time to gather myself. at the moment, emails are unread, letter unopened, phone off, room untidied, diary out of date, job applications unfilled... its strange how easy it is to drop off the planet for a while.

maybe its just the mood of the day.

would type more, but in line with my general thoughts, i couldnt be bothered.

what about other experiences of burnout?

Lazyness is mine.

I completely collapse and sleep for days in row....at least I want to sleep for days in a row but I'm forced to go to school, and boy...just how much motivation do I have for that?...Zero. >_<

I understand. Yesterday was a beautiful day...and what did I do all day? I drove to my mother's house, picked up an entire truck full of stuff for my apartment, then unpacked it in my place, then went to my old house to deal with some stuff I'd left there, brought it back here and unpacked it, then ran to CompUSA to get an S-Video cable so that I can watch DVD's in my new apartment, then to the drugstore to get shaving cream and shampoo, and then it was 10 PM.

And today, after swim workout, I will go to Toledo to help my friend with her garage sale. Then I need to gt plane tickets to go to Burning Man, then I need to work on my Personal Statement and CV and then Patrick and I are going to get our HIV test results.

And this is a WEEKEND. rolleyes

I need a vacation from myself. ubblol

When you're asked a question and the answer is always "Can't be arsed" then it's burnout.

I find it helps enormously to make an effort to start on something brainless but active; don't do job applications if you're monged out to infinity, go for a walk, sit on the beach and listen to the surf. It starts picking up from there.

Though if you seriously can't be arsed then ice cream and Pepsi Max will get you hyper enough to start.

There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.

or this stuff called hales that you can get from asian groceries (its Thai) and its basically liquid sugar!

burning out is whats happnening to me right now.
it usually happens to me at the end of the rowing season; after about 5 months of training at least 5 days a week (and 7 for most of the time) and then when school went back - having to sit through 6 periods a day...i reached the end of the season and just crashed. my health was screwed up, i was sick, thin as a rake (for a number of reasons) and just so mentally in desperate need to relax. i took 2 weeks off everthing and refused to do any exercise for 2 weeks!

i would have changed ***** to phallus, and claire to petey Petey

Rougie: but that's what I'm doing here
Arnwyn: what letting me adjust myself in your room?..don't you dare quote that on HoP...

It is ok to go hard and burn out sometimes, as long as we let ourselves be lazy and recover for long enough and as long as our time being burnt out isn't more than half of the time we're feeling energised.
If that makes sense?

i think it's grad school. major inducer of burnout. i haven't recovered yet.

I was always scared with my mother's obsession with the good scissors. It made me wonder if there were evil scissors lurking in the house somewhere.

wow that sounded really stupid, but im going to post it anyways

I get like that so much! Unless I make a huge effort not to, I can end up wasting a few straight weeks of my life doing nowt due to no motivation. It's a scary thought, but hey.
