I think that taken out of context that sentence can be confusing.
ADD and ADHD are pretty clearly defined.
I work at a school with a FANTASTIC special education department. This is rare indeed. In these rare cases, ADD and ADHD are specifically diagnosed and treated effectively.
I think there are so many people ignorant about what is and isn't ADD (and what causes it, exacerbates it, helps prevent it and other nonsense) that the entire concept of ADD gets a bad wrap.
For the small minority of folks that understand both the definition and how it expresses itself (which I put myself just OUTSIDE of) I think modern ADD treatment implemented correctly is incredibly effective.
I think that most people don't have a clue what they're talking about and make judgements based on inaccurate information.
Then again, EVERYONE seems to think they know EVERYTHING about education just because they sat in a classroom once.
