Well, since so many people had their intro threads wiped out and are starting new ones, I figure I could use these events to start my own, ultra-untimely intro, seeing as how I've been around HoP for like 3 years.
So then:
Name: Vance
Alias: Van, Vanize, Add, Zaidou (my 'African' name) ... oh, and I almost forgot, Pixie Banger! (don't ask if you don't really want to know).
Age: 34 (35 now)
Location: Potchefstroom, South Africa (WSW of Jo'berg) presently. Grew up in Houston, Texas. Most of my Family lives in Austin, Texas. I'm moving to Berlin, Germany in January for 2 years. (ok, been in Berlin for a year now)
Favourite Toys: sailboats (been sailing 29 years), surfboards (been surfing 19 years), poi (3.5 years) (almost 5 years now)
Occupation: Reasearch scientist (Ph.D. in space physics)
Hobbies: Too many - sailing, surfing, poi, scale models, travelling, collecting stamps and paper money from places I visit, Dungeons & Dragons, SCUBA diving, tropical fish, reading, painting, drawing, getting projects ready for Burningman, ....

Music: I'll listen to most anything except modern country music. My favorites are classical (e.g. vivaldi, beethoven), trance, classic rock (led zep, hendrix, beatles), and what used to be called alternative (foo fighters, pixies, whale, ...)
Movies: blade runner (director's cut), strictly ballroom, band of brothers (more like a mini series I guess), amelie, ... er, I know there are more, but I can't think of them just now.
Books: mostly sci-fi, fantasy, and history.
Philosophy: Technological Gaiaism, Quantum Fatalism
Favourite Colour: Burgandy ( sorry Alice!)

It is theory 2 that is the true one. You have to keep in mind that it is in the context of the rennesance festivals though - one of my personas at such festivals is a barbarian who hates pixies. makes for lots of fun chasing girls around who happen to be wearing skimpy costumes with wings.
You were correct that theory 1 is the half true one. In the end, she was interested in poi, and not me so much (though she did tease me a lot, damn her). She is the friend with ADD I referred to in your intro. But to this day, several of my friends still think I slept with her, which is why the Pixie Banger name from my ren fair character wound up sticking I think.
the only thing true about theory 3 is that I worked with data from the Polar satellite for my master's thesis and that there is an instrument named PIXIE aboard. The spacecraft was already in orbit by the time I started working for my advisor.
I did get to go into the clean room as the IMAGE satellite was being assembled though, and I worked with that satellite for my PhD. Had the pleasure of watching it launch from Vandenburg AFB too. It was really cool to be associated with a mission from before launch thru its 2 year NASA oversight commitee mission review and watch all the guesses, mistakes, accidents, and disasters and how they coped with them all to still pulled off a very succesful mission.

I for one would love to see Lightning wrestle Shadow...Cabana boys most certainly do not need to be straight...They just need to know how to appreciate their womens, and take great care of them...This is coming from someone who gets pampered by our own Super Cabana Boy...
Oh, and for getting off the baby oil, Dr. Bronner's usually works pretty well.
No offense to anyone, I know Vanize is HOT and I'd like to see someone actually have a chance at the wresting thing...

Besides, I have about five girls now who consider me to be their best girlfriend. I think a lot of girls find it easier to talk to a man who they know is gay.

i find it easy to talk to a guy who is compassionate and can make me laugh and smile. those are the only requirements really for me.

I generally find it easier to talk to guys than girls. Gaiety is pretty irrelevant to this.

Alright then folks, this is the main event you've all been waiting for - the three way, all hot, all naked male baby oil wrestling throw down event! The vinyl kiddie wading pool is filled with several quarts of oil, and the contestants are about through talkin' smack. Last one remaining in the pool wins, but everyone who gets in and wrestles gets to be a cabana boy ('cept me, as I'll be the cabana boy manager regardless).
It should be starting any moment now...

vanize counters the beely button violation with a swift series of involuntary convultions, one of which knocks Lighning's right leg out from under him, leaving him sliding with the other foot till he winds up doing excrutiatingly wide splits... (ow, that's gotta hurt!).
So sorry!
Vanize shakes off the temporary rage at his opponents dirty and underhanded trick, wipes a large drop of baby oil from his brow, and grabs lighnings left foot and begins tickling ferociously.
