The voting software allows one vote per person and we use the computer IP address as a preliminary filter. If you or your friend is using a "public" computer and hasn't logged in, then it could appear as if you or they have voted if someone else using that computer had placed a vote. Also, many Internet Service Providers allocate the IP addresses to users dynamically at the time they log in for each session so this could also be a factor.
We are unable to alter vote counts.
