If you take two digits, add them then subtract from the original no. you'll always get a multiple of 9 i.e. 9,18,27,36 etc
Each time you redo the thing the symbols on the list change, but if you look at the nos. 9,18,27 etc you'll notice that they all have the same symbol, and that is the symbol that'll appear in the crystal ball.
It's really clever and I did get that 'I must be dreaming' feeling when I first did it.

but wait a second if the numbers multiples of nine come up all the time and all mutiples of nine are the same pic then why doesnt the same pic come up all the time?

is there a mathematical proof of why if you take a two digit number and add the digits then subract it from the original number, its a multiple of nine?
ive been trying to think of one but i cant...
maybe i should ask my maths teacher, or search google......
but if anyone knows id be interested, its very clever.

just thought id post again to say ive located a proof, and it gose something like this if anyones interested...
if XY is your two digit number then
XY-(X+Y) = XY - X - Y is the answer
however
XY is actually =(10X + Y) (beacuse Xis in the tens collum)
so you answer becomes
10X + Y - X - Y = 9X (ie allways a multiple of nine)
im happy now, hope that made some sort of sense

beth i think you need to go back or to school more often to count and subtract, coz if you do it prperly it never misses.
