and I'm as nervous as if I'm walking into a bar full of strangers - so deep breath and here we go...

Just got into poi and i'm pretty crap but it's just such a buzz so gonna keep at it - who says you can't teach an old dog...

a good friend is getting married next august and she's told her mum I'll do fire! no pressure then.

I'm not v good at chat rooms n stuff, they scare me - in fact it's been 3 years since I last went on one but the guy who introduced me to poi is/was a HOPer so i reckon it's worth a try

dya know I was even worried about these fab little things I've seen on people's messages - right over my head i thought - and here they are on the screen - doh!

But now I can't get em on here aargh! 1 step forward, 1 step back.

Hopefully I'll look back on this and laugh in years to come!

Apparently you know Trippy Hippy.

What's he like?
I've been avoiding meeting him for ages.

He introduced me to poi so that's enuf to earn him a place in my good books. He's OK - done alot of stuff with him this summer - Glastonbury, Wakestock, gigs etc and we're good drinking/smoking buddies - in fact we've been pretty close at times despite the big age gap, doesn't seem to matter when you gel with someone - he sparks my creativity and I love him for that.

Why avoiding him? Didn't you get a good feeling about him on here?

he was really into hte idea of hooking up and learning new skills from each other and shtuff like that. which all seems a bit intimidating to me.

like you said with your:

Big social event like Poi in the Park is fine. But specifically going to someone's house and stuff is a bit scary.

I'm slightly paranoid sometimes....does that come across?

Not at all - well, not yet anyway....
I know what you mean about Trippy - he's very enthusiastic and excitable sometimes and also very friendly and open, so to someone a little more reserved it can be intimidating I guess. He was also a couple of years younger and still coming to terms with and getting over his illness I think.

I think I'm with you - meeting up at events is great and if you hit it off with someone take it further, but it's a bit niave (but kinda nice) to assume that cos you've got Poi/fire in common you'll have everything else in common. Maybe meeting up on local neutral ground to do some Poi would be a nice compromise?

He came round last night and out of the blue brought a couple of cd's of fire vids from when he was HoPing regularly - saw yours from Poi in the Park 01! cool

so now i know what you look like and where you live..... paranoia????

How was PiP?? maybe next time I could go have a looksee

Stickies scare me - my fingers just seem way too weak/small to support the weight and they hurt far more than poi (aprt from globalz in the eye - that hurt)
I SO wanna do fire like everyone on here does but I'm so not good enuf and worry that I ever will be frown frown

chr you did it the opposite way to me, I came on here when I've barely picked up poi n now I get distracted from practisin by talking to everyone - urs is probably the most sensible way but mine's fun ubbtickled

But hiya wavehello wavehello welcomeback . tell us, well me, more about yourself.....

Ooh - sounds like fun I really wanna but....
1. scared of all those new people
2. hopeless at poi
3. not good in the cold

but.....
1. not enough hippies in my life
2. love watching poi and fire
4. miss the beach big time

so....

reckon I'll hook into this one - and thanx, I'd never have found it! thankx hug

However, I'm a bit concerned about your paranoia about meeting Cheshire HoPPers.....!

I wiggle my butt at every opportunity. I think if I've got something that big and wobbly why not make use of it! So I wiggle it all the time! biggrin
