They're all just airbrushed models enforcing a double-standard in society by making us aspire to be something no human can possibly achieve....

OK, serious now.

I got a little bit of a paunch even though I can outrun and outfight just about any average joe... occurred because I was horribly overweight during my teenage years and lost almost all of it but I got a reminder with me for the rest of my life. It's bad being fitter than most, but also having the love handles and a bit of a gut because I see the fire performers with ripped abs, no shirts, etc, and think "how can i compete with that." But ya know what, I just do... people look at the fire, and the technique, and my passion for it, not at me personally. At least, I believe so

dio i hope ur not implying that engineers are tubby. ive done an engineering degree and am now doing a phd and im far from flabby the reason being i train hard and regularly and look after my body and mind. if you want to look good its not that hard all u have to do is regular exercise. most ppl actually have wicked abs but u cant see them as there is a layer of fat on top that hides all the definition.

Not implying as such, but I recall several of the guys in this thread who claim to have spare tires also mentioning that they're engineers. Generalizing in a humorous fashion, don't take it too literally

On the workout note - I work out almost every day... Tae Kwon Do for 2 hours on T-Th nights, Distance Running all the other days, with a very healthy diet (no soda, salads for meals, etc) and yet I still cannot get past the point I'm at without resorting to measures so extreme I risk my own health (like back when I was swimming a mile a day and couldn't lose an ounce).

Anyone else experience this problem, or preferably, find a solution to it???

to turn you into a thermoplastic coating would be a remarkable feat, was that by a free radical polymerisation reaction, anionic/polymerisation, or catalystic polymerisation???

yay for multiple people called ed! if only i was a fit looking as the other two eds youve mentioned....
